Job Description:
Overview
The core mission of the Accounting Specialist is to support the accounting team in the preparation of complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties and the corporate team. The primary duties will focus on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Processing
- Process weekly check runs for commercial properties, including mailing checks to vendors and handling specials mailing instructions for checks as requested
- Enforce AP policies relative to appropriate signature authority and transaction type
- New vendor set-up, adding Certificates of Insurance, W-9’s and other Accounts Payable duties as needed
- 1099 Processing
Accounts Receivable Processing
- Daily processing of tenant receivables transactions for commercial properties managed. This includes recording tenant rent deposits, as well processing tenant free rent/prepaid transactions
- Batching checks received and processing for daily deposits, via desktop tellers and in some cases bank drop off
- Working with Property Accountants and Property Manager to research tenant receivables issues as needed
Other
- Assist Team Members with miscellaneous accounting support, data input, filing and departmental organization activities
- Perform special projects as required
- Covering lunches/breaks for the receptionist at front desk as needed
- Assist with implementation of Yardi Correspondence and information standardization, modules and software enhancements
Qualifications
• Associates degree in accounting or equivalent experience, preferred but not required
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Self-starter with ability to prioritize and ensure accuracy of work
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle inquiries from tenants and vendors in a professional, expedient manner
• Yardi Voyager experience a plus
Compensation: $23.00 per hour. Part-time/temporary employees are eligible for sick time in line with Colorado law.
