POSITION SUMMARY: 
The person selected for this position will be under the direct supervision of UAU’s Employment Program (SYEP) School-Based Program Coordinator and the executive staff within a designated Bronx-based NYCDOE school. This person will serve as the liaison between UAU and said partner NYCDOE to implement the “School-Based” SYEP program at any given site and will manage the development, implementation, and oversight of the initiative. 

The Youth Employment Coordinator selected is expected to possess a deep interest and passion for youth development and achievement. Candidates familiar with personal, demographic, and cultural impediments related to youth employment are encouraged to apply. The selected Youth Employment Coordinator would ideally utilize this information to support the creation of successful youth engagement, teachable moments, and lasting rapport with SYEP participants. Experience working with diverse populations and ESL students is a plus. EOE

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
•    Participate in the recruitment, enrollment, orientation, job placement and implementation of SYEP/WLG participants 
•    Collect, review for completion, file and maintain participant records/paperwork 
•    Identify and refer high-need worksites based on partner/participant needs and support in their on-boarding
•    Enter weekly timesheets and assessments for SYEP/WLG participants efficiently and effectively meeting committal deadlines
•    Support in-school Career Services department by counseling students on career options and guiding their development of job and college search skills. Assist Career Services staff with special projects. 
•    Mentor participants with a focus on the introduction and expansion of workplace-readiness and college-preparedness skills. 
•    Help in developing, planning, and implementing workshops for SYEP/WLG participants 
•    Attend school meetings and coordinate with school to ensure success of partnership 
•    Attend UAU Workforce Development division-wide meetings and professional development workshops
•    Participate in professional conferences and other self-directed professional development activities
•    Engage in daily communication with selected DOE staff and SYEP School-Based Program Coordinator 
•    Observe instructional classes and lend support to UAU staff and/or other partners like Career Clue, CUNY, guest speakers and more
•    Take notes on participant progress and behavior during the course of class times using provided templates and turnkey observations to the Education Specialist
•    Maintain regular communication with Worksite Monitors to resolve issues, ensure timely completion of all documents, etc.
•    Collaborate with Worksite Monitors and educational staff to ensure quality programming is being offered to Older and Younger Youth participants.
•    Maintain participant and worksite files up to the standards set forth by UAU and DYCD
•    Complete other advisory duties as requested such as track retention of applicants/participants of SYEP and WLG 
•    Conduct internal and external audits, providing satisfactory audit scores up to the standards set forth by UAU and DYCD
•    Maintain internal documents which reflect: student advising statistics, participant work schedules, and other reporting documents. Including internal trackers and DYCD trackers for aforementioned programs
•    Visit and monitor worksites for programmatic compliance throughout program
•    Required to maintain in-person attendance at the assigned NYCDOE school worksite during the school’s operating schedule, provided the school building is open and operating, regardless of whether students are attending in person. On days when the school building is closed, staff are required to report in person to a designated UAU office as scheduled in advance, unless otherwise instructed. Opportunities to work remotely may be provided on an as-needed basis, subject to operational needs and prior approval.

QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree preferred, with 2+ years of experience in youth services or education capacity
Experience developing program models, evaluating performance, and analyzing data/metrics
Experience using Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint and the GSuite platforms
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
Ability to effectively manage multiple participants and work sites simultaneously
Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and flexibility in response to changing needs
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team
Demonstrates an understanding of and values individuals’ different capacities, cultures, and abilities
A high level of emotional intelligence and ability to thoughtfully and accurately assess and respond to individual needs.

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need, in-person.
Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Position is in a well-lighted office environment.
Involves sitting approximately 60% percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time.
May include working prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet or more of the observer).
Must be willing and able to travel to Staten Island multiple times per month. The required frequency of visits to the UAU-SYEP office may vary depending on programmatic needs and the time of year.
Must be willing and able to travel throughout the NYC metro area, majority of travel will be the Bronx and Staten Island in addition to periodically traveling to a variety of locations, based on programming needs and reimbursed in accordance with UAU's fiscal policies and procedures
