Campbell County Parks and Recreation

Position Type: Part-Time / Seasonal

Pay Rate: $35 per game

Schedule: Weekends

Location: Campbell County, Virginia

Would be responsible for officiating youth basketball games in accordance with Campbell County Parks and Recreation guidelines. The referee is expected to maintain a safe, fair and positive environment for all the participants while maintain proper control of the game.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Officiate youth basketball games and enforce league rules and regulations.

•    Maintain a fair, safe, and positive playing environment for all participants.

•    Make accurate and impartial calls throughout the game.

•    Start and stop games according to the scheduled game time.

•    Monitor player conduct and promote good sportsmanship.

•    Communicate effectively and respectfully with players, coaches, parents, and Parks & Recreation staff.

•    Maintain control of the game and address inappropriate behavior when necessary.

•    Work cooperatively with other referees, scorekeepers, coaches, and league staff.

•    Arrive on time and prepared for assigned games.

•    Maintain appropriate professional conduct before, during, and after games.

•    Report any injuries, major incidents, or significant rule violations to Parks & Recreation staff.

•    Follow all Parks & Recreation policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Ability to understand and enforce youth basketball rules.

•    Ability to effectively communicatee with the youth players, coaches, parents and league officials

•    Ability to make quick, impartial decisions during the games.

•    Ability to maintain composure and a professional attitude during games.

•    Previous basketball playing or officiating experience is preferred.

•    Must be dependable and able to work games that take place on weekends.

•    Ages 16+

Physical Requirements:

•    Ability to stand, run, bend, and change directions continuously during basketball games.

•    Ability to observe and respond quickly to game situations.

Work Schedule:

•    Part-time/seasonal position.

•    Games are scheduled on weekends.
