OCC's Year-Round Internship Program is a 12-month opportunity running from January through December and is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are actively enrolled at a college or university. Interns work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer, subject to a 1,000-hour cap. The role is based in a hybrid work environment, and overtime is not permitted.

Hybrid Work Program

OCC operates under a Hybrid Work Program which, absent an approved exception, requires employees to work from an OCC office at least 3 days per week. To maximize in–person collaboration, Tuesday and Wednesday are considered anchor days, and all employees are expected to work in the office both days. Employees meeting performance expectations are generally permitted to select 2 other days per week to work remotely if desired. When working remotely, employees are generally expected to work from the state in which they reside, absent an exception approved by Human Resources. Additionally, OCC generally does not permit employees to work while traveling internationally.

About the Team & Role

The Knowledge Management (KM) team sits within Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) at OCC and is responsible for how the organization identifies, organizes, shares and maintains institutional knowledge, aligned to the COBIT 2019 BAI08 (Managed Knowledge) practice. The team operates in an Agile-scrum model with two-week sprints.

This intern, located in the Chicago office, would contribute directly to the ETS Knowledge Continuity project, a cross-functional effort to reduce single points of knowledge failure and improve how critical operational and technical knowledge is captured, organized and transferred across teams. Working alongside the KM team lead, the intern would help audit existing documentation, identify knowledge at risk from turnover or SME dependency and support the team's day-to-day sprint work, gaining hands-on exposure to the KM discipline while producing deliverables that will impact the organization.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

This intern primarily supports the ETS Knowledge Continuity departmental initiative:

• Support the knowledge risk assessment by helping identify domain owners, SMEs and single points of failure across assigned ETS knowledge domains and assist in documenting the baseline.
• Assist in piloting the lightweight knowledge capture standard by drafting or formatting a subset of knowledge assets identified in the risk assessment.
• Participate in readability validation of piloted knowledge assets by reviewing content as an "outside the original team" tester and logging gaps or unclear sections.
• Help organize and tag pilot knowledge assets to support findability, working within the access/governance principles the team defines.
• Track action items and maintain documentation for the quarterly risk assessment review cadence with ETS team leads.
• Assist with compiling baseline metrics and meeting notes to support the annual measurement cycle setup and retrospective cadence.
• Track assigned work in Jira and participate in sprint ceremonies.
• Assist in other KM team activities as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

Rising senior or second-year graduate student, graduating December 2027 or May/August 2028.

Desired Majors

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Library/Information Science, Business Administration or a related field.

Technical Skills/Experience Desired

• Exposure to Confluence, Jira and SharePoint is helpful but not required. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Agile or Scrum concepts is a plus. No coding or scripting required.

Additional Qualifications

Interest in knowledge management, information governance or IT compliance disciplines. Comfort working in a compliance-driven environment where documentation, accuracy and traceability matter. Ability to conduct structured interviews or working sessions with subject matter experts to extract undocumented knowledge. Organizational skills to classify and tag content consistently. Strong written communication skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to follow documented processes and work independently on assigned tasks while knowing when to ask for clarification.

Compensation

• The salary range listed for any given position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at OCC, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education.
• In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
• We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a substantial benefits package as noted on www.theocc.com/careers
• All employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, company and individual performance and are not guaranteed.

$25.00 - $25.00

Incentive Range

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award, for which the target range is listed above (see Incentive Range). The amount of such award, if any, will be based on various factors, including without limitation, both individual and company performance.
