JOB TITLE:  Worship Arts Instructor 

REPORTS TO:  Music and Worship Ministry Director

STATUS:  Non-Exempt, Part-Time

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:

Since 1991, Emerald Youth Foundation has worked to support Knoxville’s youth and prepare generations of Godly community leaders. Emerald Youth has engaged more than 30,000 children and young adults in a variety of community programs over nearly three decades. Every year, Emerald Youth serves more than 3,000 children, teens and young adults in the heart of Knoxville through faith, learning and health programs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Help young people discover their God-given musical gifts and develop a heart for serving others through worship.  Worship Arts Instructors provide individual and/or small group instrumental or vocal training focused on technique and expression while encouraging students to grow in confidence and character.  Through supportive, Christ-centered mentorship, instructors help students develop both their abilities and their worship leadership and understanding of how their gifts can be used to bless others and praise God through worship instead of performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards. 
• Proficiency in one or more instruments (piano/keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, etc.); additional instruments strongly preferred.
• Vocal proficiency/coaching experience and ability to read chord charts and apply basic music theory preferred.
• Experience teaching beginner/intermediate music to children or youth, with choir, band, worship team, or ensemble leadership experience preferred.
• Strong relational, communication, collaboration, and reliability skills, with experience in worship ministry, church music, music education, or youth ministry and consistent weekly availability.

SCHEDULE:

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday between 4:00-8:00 p.m.; Wednesday and Friday between 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Typically 2-10 hours per week, depending on student enrollment and area of instruction.
