Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Sie Center for Down Syndrome at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a part-time hourly Nurse Practitioner faculty member to support clinical research activities within the Sie Center for Down Syndrome. The Sie Center is part of the Neuroscience Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado, which also includes Child Neurology, Developmental Pediatrics, and Neurosurgery.

The Sie Center serves individuals with Down syndrome across the lifespan from Colorado, the surrounding region, and beyond. The Nurse Practitioner will contribute to ongoing clinical and translational research efforts focused on improving the health and well-being of individuals with Down syndrome. Responsibilities may include supporting participant recruitment and enrollment, conducting research-related assessments, assisting with study visits, collecting clinical data, coordinating with investigators and research staff, and contributing clinical expertise to research protocols.

This position will collaborate closely with physicians, psychologists, research coordinators, and other interdisciplinary team members to advance innovative research initiatives related to Down syndrome. Faculty members are expected to support the academic mission of the program through participation in research, scholarly activity, and dissemination of findings as appropriate.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

·         Active Colorado Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licensure, or eligibility for licensure in Colorado.

·         Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

·         National certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

·         Experience working with pediatric populations and/or individuals with developmental disabilities.

·         Ability to comply with hospital, university, and research regulatory requirements.

Condition of Employment:

·         Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado

·         Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Previous clinical or research experience involving individuals with Down syndrome.

·         Prior experience working within the Sie Center for Down Syndrome or similar specialty programs.

·         Experience supporting clinical research studies, registries, or quality improvement initiatives.

·         Familiarity with research protocols, regulatory requirements, and data collection processes.

·         Experience recruiting and engaging research participants and families.

·         Demonstrated scholarly activity, including presentations, publications, or participation in research projects.

·         Experience working in an academic medical center.

·         Two or more years of pediatric Nurse Practitioner experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Knowledge of Down syndrome and common associated medical and developmental conditions.

·         Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary clinical and research teams.

·         Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in conducting research activities and maintaining study documentation.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

·         Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles and human subjects research protections.

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.

·         Commitment to fostering an inclusive and family-centered environment.

·         Ability to develop collaborative relationships with participants, families, investigators, and research staff.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring rate for this position has been established at $80.00 per hour.

The above hiring rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
