CSPNJ a mental health nonprofit agency is looking for seasonal Warming Center Mentor(s). The Warming Center provides emergency overnight shelter for the unhoused from November through March. The Mentor ensures the physical safety and emotional well-being of guests staying at the emergency cold weather shelter. Staff members work as a team to handle nightly intake, distribute supplies, maintain facility cleanliness, and connect guests with critical community resources.  The Warming Center provides a warm safe place for unsheltered individuals to spend the night during the winter months.

 HIGHLIGHTS

• Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming, respectful, and comfortable environment.
• Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and effective communication.
• Promote a safe, healthy, and supportive environment through education, guidance, and positive interactions with guests.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the center and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns to the Center Manager.
• Support guest safety by responding appropriately to behavioral health crises and utilizing effective crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Adhere to assigned staffing schedules to ensure adequate and safe staffing coverage and support the successful delivery of program services and objectives.

Hourly Rate: $20.00 | $100 Holiday Shift Pay on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day

3 part-time shifts available | Up to 29 hours per week | No benefits

1. 5:00pm – 12:00am

2. 12:00am – 6:00am

3. 6:00am – 10:00am

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of working with the homeless population.
• Ability to build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with individuals who currently or previously have received mental health or substance use services.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities.
• Willingness to share personal experience with mental health or substance use services, as appropriate, and speak openly about one’s individual recovery journey.
• Ability to work with individuals experiencing mental health challenges in a compassionate, respectful, and professional manner.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
• Bilingual skills are a plus!
