The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, with a strong focus on perishable and temperature-controlled cargo. This role combines hands-on operational duties with team leadership, ensuring cargo is handled accurately, safely, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements. The Warehouse Lead will coordinate workflow, support and guide warehouse staff, and act as a key point of communication between warehouse, trucking, and office teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of leading in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to company procedures.
Lead, train, and support warehouse staff, promoting productivity, accountability, and safety.
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming cargo for accuracy, quality, and completeness of shipments.
Identify, document, and report cargo discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the appropriate departments.
Oversee proper handling of cargo, including pre-cooling, storage, and order preparation.
Ensure all goods are stored and maintained at appropriate temperatures in compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
Review and verify outbound shipments, ensuring proper documentation and secure loading to prevent damage during transit.
Prepare cargo for dispatch, verifying documentation and loading items securely to prevent damage during transit.
Coordinate with trucking and driver teams, ensuring the correct temperature is applied to perishable shipments during transportation.
Conduct cargo screening and security procedures in accordance with TSA regulations.
Verify and process documentation related to cargo handling, transportation, and compliance.
Monitor and enforce proper loading techniques to safeguard cargo integrity.
Collaborate with the Warehouse Operations Manager with task delegation, and performance oversight
Communicate promptly with team members and supervisors to address any issues or delays.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the warehouse, adhering to safety standards and company policies.
Assist with inventory management and maintain accurate records of cargo movement.
Address operational issues proactively and implement solutions to improve efficiency and service quality.
QualificationsQualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years’ experience in warehouse operations or logistics, preferably with perishable or temperature-controlled cargo.
Ability to lift heavy items and perform physically demanding tasks.
Flexibility to work on shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to operate forklifts and warehouse equipment (certification preferred).
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in English (Spanish is a plus).
Knowledge of temperature control practices and warehouse safety procedures.
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Strong teamwork skills and a proactive attitude.
