How can you make an impact?

The VP, Technology & Digital Product Delivery, Global Professional (GP) leads the technical roadmap, development, and maintenance efforts for GP digital subscription products, working closely with external and internal technical suppliers and in coordination with McGraw Hill’s Digital Enterprise Solutions (DES) group. Reporting to the Group VP for Medical Education, the role supervises the Product Management, Technical Product Management, Delivery Management, User Experience Design, and User Experience Research functions for GP, identifying new processes, tools, features, and world-class, scalable solutions and leading their prioritization, implementation, and ongoing development as market needs evolve. This role interfaces directly with the business stakeholders who support the day-to-day operations of the GP business, including Editorial, Operations, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Support.

What you will be doing:

• Own the platform strategy and product delivery: Own the platform strategy and overall vision for how products are built, delivered, and maintained. Own the prioritization process for all platforms, ensuring that work is properly planned to reflect business priorities in partnership with engineering teams. Ensure platforms adhere to key compliance standards around PII, PHI, educational records, and accessibility, and devise strategies to ensure standards are upheld and risk is minimized.
• Lead the Product Management function and product discovery processes: Oversee the digital Product Management function and manage a team of Product Managers and Technical Product Managers, and oversee the collection of functional and technical requirements. Refine and optimize team structure, reporting, and responsibilities to ensure maximum fit for Global Professional’s evolving strategy and diversifying product portfolio.
• Lead User Experience Design and User Experience Research: Lead and manage UXD and UXR resources, driving their processes and productivity to ensure leading edge, highly accessible designs are produced for implementation that represent the outputs of effective market/product discovery activities around existing, new, and proposed products spanning the U.S. and priority international regions.
• Deliver new business functionality with partners: Lead business stakeholders, internal engineering teams, and third-party vendors in the design, development, testing, and deployment of new business functionality, and liaise with external vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure all processes, procedures, and policies are adhered to for assigned projects and enhancements.
• Advance data, analytics, and future technical strategy: Work cross-functionally to design, implement, and assess new data and analytics capabilities and reporting for MHP digital products, and develop future technical strategies—evaluating new and emerging technologies and vendors and new business models for monetizing content digitally.
• Shape the roadmap, budget, and content strategy: Contribute to annual budget management for technical spend and to funding requests for new and existing products; shape the platform roadmap and contribute to strategic and operational decisions around digital content acquisition, content strategy, production workflows and tools, and new product development for emerging platforms, e-books, and apps, while analyzing market trends, customer feedback, and forecasts to support strategic goals.
• Act as champion for new and emerging technologies in medical education: Embrace new and emerging technologies and opportunities to thoughtfully develop market leading products that leverage new developments in AI and other relevant technology.
• Act as key Subject Matter Expert: Provide strategic counsel and guidance to members of Global Professional leadership regarding technology capabilities and market perception thereof. Assist in preparation and delivery of materials pertaining to development initiatives, roadmap progress, and KPIs for ELT and C-Suite audiences as needed.

What you can bring to this role:

• 12+ years of deep experience in technical product delivery.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the educational technology and medical and/or engineering learning/instructional sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of key compliance standards and experience executing and launching products and features with such considerations in mind (HIPAA for integrated medical products, GDPR/CCPA/VCDPA/CPA and similar for privacy, FERPA for education records, and WCAG 2.2 Level AA for accessibility).
• Experience restructuring teams in accordance with changing company and market dynamics and needs.
• Strong financial modeling and business case development skills.
• Experience working directly with C-suite and board-level stakeholders.
• AI fluency: Understands how to evaluate the impact and cost of AI systems. Has experience implementing AI workflows and developing AI products and features.
• Track record of driving organizational change.
• Ability to identify, develop, and evaluate management talent in others.
• Demonstrated success outlining and implementing a strategic vision for growth.
• Demonstrated ability to drive for results while maintaining good relations with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated experience attracting top technology talent and building high-performing teams.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• At least 2 years experience building AI-enabled product experiences.
• Experience working with Big Tech (e.g., Microsoft, Google, etc.)

Why work for us?

The pay range for this position is between $187,000 - $235,000 annually. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.  Click here to learn more about our benefit offerings.
