ABOUT THE ROLE
Build and lead Sequen's Field Engineering function from the ground up — hiring, coaching, and growing a team of 4–5 Field Engineers into a world-class technical pre-sales organization. Own the Field Engineering playbook: define the demo motion, POC and proof-of-value frameworks, technical qualification standards, and the collateral and processes the team runs on. Partner with sales leadership as the technical counterweight in the field, ensuring every eight-figure cycle has the technical horsepower to win the evaluation and close. Hire and scale the team ahead of demand — define the role, build the interview process, raise the bar, and grow the function as Sequen expands its named-account coverage. Serve as the escalation point and technical authority on the most strategic, complex evaluations, stepping directly into deals alongside AEs and Field Engineers when it matters. Build the connective tissue between the field and product, ML, and forward deployed engineering — turning customer requirements and evaluation learnings into a feedback loop that shapes the roadmap. Establish the metrics, forecasting inputs, and operating rhythm that make Field Engineering a measurable, scalable driver of technical win rates. Help shape how Sequen lands and grows customers: our go-to-market is still being written, and you'll hold the pen on the technical half of it.
ABOUT YOU
8–12+ years of pre-sales / sales engineering / solutions engineering experience, with at least 4 years leading Field Engineering or Sales Engineering teams. Strong customer-facing communication skills. Have built or substantially scaled a technical pre-sales function. Have led technical sales for technical products — infrastructure, ML/AI, data platforms, search/personalization. Track record of driving technical wins on seven- and eight-figure enterprise deals. A builder who creates process, frameworks, and playbooks where none exist. Genuine business acumen. Partner naturally with sales leadership. Communicate with equal fluency to a CPO and a staff engineer. Full ownership and comfort navigating ambiguity. Bachelor's degree or comparable experience, ideally in a technical field.

Have led technical pre-sales into retail, e-commerce, marketplaces, or travel verticals. Hands-on depth in recommendation, ranking, search, or personalization systems. Scaled a team through rapid revenue and headcount growth. Built POC or proof-of-value motions tied to usage-based, value-based, or lift-share commercial models. Worked closely with forward deployed engineering or professional services.
