VP, Business Operations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP, Business Operations based in United States.

This role owns workforce management for a major revenue-generating channel, with direct accountability for clinician capacity, retention, utilization, credentialing throughput, revenue, and gross margin. You will build and operate the systems required to scale clinician supply and session delivery while maintaining strong unit economics. The position combines general-management thinking with hands-on operational and analytical execution. You will work across Clinical, Recruiting and Credentialing, Operations, Finance, Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams while influencing leaders who do not report directly to you. Success will depend on turning complex data into clear decisions, identifying root causes, and creating repeatable systems that can scale. This is a fully remote U.S. role with significant executive visibility and ownership over measurable business outcomes.

Accountabilities:

• Own workforce management across clinician capacity planning, retention, utilization, and credentialing throughput, ensuring the right supply is available to meet demand.
• Take direct accountability for revenue, gross margin, and unit economics, translating workforce performance into financial impact and making operational tradeoffs visible.
• Analyze operational and financial data directly to identify performance trends, root causes, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Establish performance management processes that turn forecasts and data into clear recommendations and priorities for Clinical, Recruiting and Credentialing, Operations, Finance, Product, and Go-to-Market teams.
• Oversee the operational workflows, throughput, service levels, and dependencies that influence clinical program performance in partnership with Clinical leadership, while keeping clinical judgment and quality within the appropriate clinical teams.
• Continuously optimize access, utilization, retention, workforce mix, cost efficiency, margin, and scalability.
• Build capacity planning systems that identify future supply and demand gaps early enough for cross-functional teams to respond effectively.
• Establish clear KPI visibility across clinician hiring, onboarding, available capacity, attended sessions, utilization, retention, clinical outcomes, revenue, and gross margin.
• Ensure performance issues are identified through data before they become operational escalations, with clear root-cause analysis and recovery plans.
• Turn fragmented or one-off operational activities into documented, repeatable, scalable systems.
• Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and lightweight technology to reduce manual work, accelerate analysis, and improve operational efficiency.
• Manage a broad operational backlog, independently prioritizing initiatives and allocating attention to the highest-impact opportunities.
• Present clear recommendations, risks, tradeoffs, and financial implications to executive stakeholders.
• Represent the interests of cross-functional partners, facilitate decisions when priorities compete, and drive alignment without relying on direct reporting lines.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in workforce or capacity planning, including forecasting supply and demand, managing distributed or contract workforces, or scaling service delivery teams.
• Proven ownership of complex operational programs with direct accountability for measurable outcomes such as revenue, gross margin, utilization, retention, or cost.
• Strong analytical fluency, with the ability to independently investigate performance, identify trends and root causes, and translate data into practical actions.
• Strong business and financial acumen, including an understanding of how operational decisions affect revenue, unit economics, and gross margin.
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority and align leaders around timelines, priorities, and operational decisions.
• Strong self-direction and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple workflows and determine what requires attention when priorities compete.
• Track record of transforming complex, manual, or inconsistent processes into documented and repeatable operating systems.
• Practical experience using AI for operational analysis, automation, process improvement, or reducing manual workloads.
• Hands-on operating style, with willingness to investigate dashboards, reconcile conflicting data, examine individual cases, build lightweight solutions, and test processes personally.
• Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to turn complex operational findings into concise recommendations and clearly articulate tradeoffs.
• SQL, Google Apps Script, Looker, BI tools, workflow automation, or experience building lightweight internal tools is a plus.
• Experience in telehealth, behavioral health, K-12, health plan partnerships, or another operationally complex healthcare environment is a plus.
