VOLUNTEER - YGIG

Job Details: Job Location: Foundation YMCA - Wilson, NC, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Duties/Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

Assist with checking students in/out upon arrival/dismissal at the site.
Assist with snack distribution and pre-programming activities (i.e. HW, free time activities, etc.).
Assist with monitoring, supervising, and/or chaperoning students before, during, and after onsite/offsite programs to ensure safety and maintain appropriate behavior.
Apply age-appropriate behavior-management techniques/guidance and alert Youth Coordinators and/or the Site Director of excessive behavior problems.
Provide positive guidance, role modeling, and daily support for the students, displaying emotional maturity and stability at all times.
Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with children, parents, Site Director, Coordinators, Y staff, other volunteers, etc. 
Inform/alert Site Director or Youth Coordinators of any incident that is out of the ordinary and may require immediate attention or intervention.
Participate (as needed) in meetings/trainings with Site Director and Youth Coordinators to discuss details specific to the program or site, demonstrating teamwork and cooperation.
Assist with daily program facilitation and facility cleanliness according to Y-GIG guidelines/standards.

Adhere to the Y-GIG policies, procedures, guidelines, rules, and regulations.

Adhere to YMCA Child Protection Policy. 

Perform other duties assigned by the supervising staff.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Must be at least 18 years of age or older (At least a Freshman or College-aged).
Must be able to become First Aid/CPR certified (as needed).
Must pass a background check.
Experience working with youth in some capacity (preferred-preferably middle school aged).
Experience working with diverse populations (preferred).
Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships by promoting care, honesty, respect, and responsibility with staff and program participants.

Must be child and safety-oriented, a good communicator, reliable, patient, punctual, dependable, flexible, and responsible.

Additional Details:

Must be able to report to the Foundation YMCA by 3:30 pm to prepare for student arrival. Middle schools dismiss at 3:30 pm; buses should begin arriving by 3:45.
Approximately 3 hours per day (15 hours per week). Monday-Friday; unless Wilson County Schools are closed.

Must complete online Praesidium training for Preventing Abuse in Youth Serving Organizations within 30 days.
