Volunteer Services Intern

Job Details: Job Location: Corporate HeadQuarters - Milwaukee, WI, Position Type: Seasonal, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Volunteer Services Intern 

Reports to: Volunteer Supervisor 

Schedule: Spring 2027, January/February – May. Approx 120 hours / 8-12 hours per week. Weekdays with some weekend availability preferred. 

Pay Rate: $12.50/hour 

JOB SUMMARY 

Discovery World is looking for a Volunteer Services intern for the Spring 2027 semester. Interns will assist the Volunteer Supervisor in running Discovery World’s Volunteer Program. This internship is designed to give career building skills in areas related to volunteer recruitment, recognition, and retention. Interns will also collaborate across the Discovery World organization to ensure volunteer needs are being met.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. 

Plan and execute the Spring 2027 Volunteer Recognition event. 

Research and implement different volunteer recognition options. 

Research and implement new volunteer recruitment options. 

Onboard and train new volunteers as needed.

Qualifications: JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.  

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Ideal candidates will be pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, museum studies, or human resources. Candidates from any degree program will be considered. 

Individuals should have strong communication & people skills and have strong attention to detail. 

Must be open to constructive criticism, feedback, and work well collaboratively as well as independently.
