About the Show

Just N Life with Nekia Nichelle is a lifestyle and entertainment series featuring engaging conversations, culture, wellness, beauty, fashion, food, entrepreneurship and everyday inspiration.

The show produces content for television, streaming, YouTube, digital platforms and social media.

While the actual television show is produced separately, we are looking for support with the digital content surrounding the show. This includes behind-the-scenes video, photo content, short-form clips, social media moments, event coverage, promotional content and lifestyle content featuring Nekia Nichelle, guests, brand partners and Just N Life experiences.

Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Videographer/Photographer Intern to support the digital content needs surrounding Just N Life with Nekia Nichelle.

This is an unpaid internship opportunity. 

This role is for someone who can capture high-quality video and photo content in person, identify strong behind-the-scenes moments, and edit content into polished digital assets for social media, YouTube Shorts, websites, promotional use and other digital platforms.

This position does not involve producing or editing the actual television show. Instead, the intern will help capture and create the content that supports the visibility of the show online.

This is an in-person internship opportunity for candidates located in Chicago. Applicants must be available to attend content days, events, interviews, appearances and other scheduled content opportunities in the Chicago area.

This is not an internship where you simply observe. Your work may be featured across Just N Life's digital platforms, social media channels, promotional materials and brand content. This is an unpaid opportunity. 

Responsibilities

Capture Behind-the-Scenes Content

Record behind-the-scenes video during content days, events, interviews, appearances, lifestyle outings and brand-related moments connected to Just N Life.

Capture natural moments of Nekia Nichelle, guests, team members, products, locations, event details and lifestyle experiences.

Take photos and short video clips that can be used for social media, recaps, promotional content, web features and digital storytelling.

Identify strong visual moments that help the audience feel connected to Nekia, the show and the broader Just N Life brand.

Capture Photo Content

Take clean, polished photo content for social media, websites, newsletters, promotional recaps and digital campaigns.

Capture portraits, candid moments, product shots, event details, guest interactions, lifestyle visuals and other show-adjacent content.

Assist with selecting and organizing strong images that support the visual identity of Just N Life and Nekia Nichelle's digital presence.

Make basic photo edits when needed, including cropping, brightness adjustments, color correction and light retouching.

Create Social Media Content

Capture and edit short-form content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook and other digital platforms.

Turn events, interviews, outings, brand moments and behind-the-scenes footage into engaging social-first content.

Identify strong moments, quotes, reactions, visuals and storylines that can be developed into short-form clips.

Create content that helps extend the visibility of Just N Life beyond the television show.

Edit Video Content

Edit behind-the-scenes clips, lifestyle moments, event recaps, promotional videos and social-first content.

Transform raw footage into clean, engaging edits that align with the tone and visual identity of Just N Life.

Create vertical, horizontal and square versions of content when needed.

Ensure edits feel polished, clear, engaging and appropriate for digital platforms.

Add Graphics and Captions

Add subtitles, titles, transitions, logos, music and approved graphics to video content.

Ensure names, titles, spelling, brand information and guest details are accurate before content is submitted.

Maintain a clean and polished look that aligns with the Just N Life brand and Nekia Nichelle's media presence.

Improve Audio and Visual Quality

Assist with basic audio cleanup, sound balancing, color correction, framing and visual enhancements.

Flag footage with technical issues and communicate any concerns to the team.

Make sure content is clean, organized and ready for review.

Follow Platform Requirements

Format and export videos according to the specifications required for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, websites and other digital platforms.

Understand how content should be tailored for mobile-first viewing, short-form engagement and promotional use.

Create different versions of content when needed for multiple platforms.

Organize Content Files

Maintain organized project files, raw footage, photos, graphics, music, exports and completed content.

Follow the team's file-naming, storage and version-control procedures.

Help keep content easy to find, access and repurpose for future digital use.

Support the Digital Content Process

Complete assigned content tasks according to deadlines and make revisions based on feedback from leadership.

Communicate clearly about project progress, missing materials or any issues that may delay completion.

Be prepared to support in-person content capture as well as independent editing assignments.

Qualifications

• Must be located in Chicago or the surrounding Chicago area
• Must be available for in-person content days, events, interviews, appearances and scheduled content opportunities
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or training in film, media production, communications, digital media, photography, content creation, marketing or a related field
• Experience capturing video and photo content through school, personal projects, freelance work, internships or content creation
• Comfortable filming behind-the-scenes content, social media video, event content and lifestyle visuals
• Comfortable taking photos of people, products, events, environments and candid moments
• Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or similar editing software
• Familiarity with photo editing tools such as Lightroom, Photoshop, Canva or similar platforms is a plus
• Basic understanding of photo and video composition, lighting, framing and audio
• Strong sense of pacing, storytelling and visual presentation
• Familiarity with Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other short-form platforms
• Basic knowledge of captions, export settings, audio editing and visual cleanup
• Able to follow creative direction and make revisions
• Strong attention to detail and file organization
• Comfortable managing multiple assignments and deadlines
• Comfortable working around talent, guests, events and brand environments
• Professional, dependable and able to communicate clearly

What We Expect

We are looking for someone who is creative, dependable, observant and committed to improving their craft.

You must be able to capture content with intention, follow instructions, meet deadlines and communicate when you need support. Interns should not wait until a deadline has passed to report an issue.

This role supports the digital content surrounding the show, not the production of the television show itself. The focus is on behind-the-scenes content, social media assets, photo content, promotional clips, event recaps and digital storytelling that help Just N Life show up with more visibility online.

Confidentiality is essential. Interns may have access to unreleased content, guest interviews, brand partnerships, behind-the-scenes moments and internal materials that cannot be shared publicly.

This is a professional media and digital content role, not a hobby. How you capture content, communicate, manage files, handle feedback and complete assignments will directly affect how Just N Life shows up across digital platforms.

Schedule

This is a part-time internship with a combination of in-person content capture, independent editing assignments, virtual meetings and scheduled deadlines.

Some evening or weekend availability may be required based on events, content opportunities and publishing schedules.

Because this role requires in-person content capture, applicants must be located in Chicago or the surrounding Chicago area and have reliable transportation to scheduled content locations.

Equipment and Software

Applicants should have access to a reliable computer, stable internet connection and professional or semi-professional video-editing software.

Applicants should also have access to a phone or camera capable of capturing quality photo and video content.

Access to basic photography or video equipment is a plus, but not required for every assignment. Additional information regarding content needs, footage access, storage systems and workflows will be provided during onboarding.
