Vice President, Global Environmental, Health, and Safety

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President, Global Environmental, Health, and Safety based in United States.

This executive role provides strategic leadership for global environmental, health, and safety programs across a complex manufacturing organization.
You will shape enterprise-wide EHS strategy, policies, governance, training, and accountability frameworks while driving a proactive safety culture.
The position also leads sustainability initiatives, ensuring programs align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and measurable performance standards.
Working with regional leaders, senior executives, customers, and safety professionals, you will build consistency and share best practices across international operations.
You will lead through influence in a matrix environment while developing teams, strengthening organizational capabilities, and supporting continuous improvement.
The role also oversees key initiatives related to workers’ compensation, environmental compliance, sustainability reporting, and workplace safety.
This is a remote, U.S.-based executive opportunity requiring international travel to manufacturing sites across the Americas and Europe.

Accountabilities:

• Develop and drive an enterprise-wide environmental, health, and safety strategy aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
• Establish, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, programs, governance structures, and accountability models.
• Drive a proactive safety culture across global manufacturing operations and promote consistent safety practices across locations.
• Define short- and long-term objectives for safety and sustainability and establish KPIs, monthly reporting, and business reviews to track progress.
• Assess and implement effective EHS organizational structures, tools, training programs, governance practices, and accountability frameworks.
• Lead the global safety organization through a matrix leadership model, providing direction, technical expertise, and thought leadership.
• Build synergies across sites by sharing knowledge, resources, personnel, tools, and proven safety practices.
• Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety standards, including OSHA and relevant international regulations.
• Lead and monitor environmental sustainability programs and governance systems in alignment with established strategies, goals, measurement frameworks, and reporting standards.
• Support the U.S. Workers’ Compensation Program, including effective case management and return-to-work initiatives related to workplace illness and injury.
• Coordinate executive-level engagement between regional operations, customers, and senior stakeholders on EHS and sustainability priorities.
• Coach and mentor safety and supply chain professionals while strengthening organizational capabilities and leadership development.
• Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture across the organization.
• Foster urgency, teamwork, continuous improvement, and effective talent development while maintaining high standards of quality and performance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, risk management, industrial safety and health, safety engineering, safety management, or a closely related field.
• 15+ years of management or supervisory experience, including 10–15 years of leadership experience within regional or global manufacturing environments.
• Proven leadership experience within global manufacturing operations is required.
• Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety requirements across international locations, particularly the Americas and Europe.
• Demonstrated ability to establish, implement, and manage best-practice EHS programs across complex organizations.
• Experience interpreting and implementing OSHA requirements and other applicable global safety regulations.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001 implementation and program sustainability.
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams and achieve organizational objectives through influence in a matrix environment.
• Experience leading teams across large-scale industrial manufacturing operations is preferred.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to quickly establish credibility with senior leadership, managers, and individual contributors.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully across all organizational levels.
• Strong presentation and training delivery capabilities.
• Strategic, solution-oriented, and proactive approach to resolving issues without compromising quality or compliance.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to build effective teams, foster collaboration, and maintain alignment around organizational goals.
• Experience working within global organizations and leading teams through influence and impact is preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally to manufacturing sites.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States.
