Vice President AI & Automation

POSITION SUMMARY

The VP, AI & Automation, who also serves as Head of the AI Center of Excellence (CoE), leads ARCHER’s enterprise AI and intelligent automation program, turning Executive Leadership Team (ELT) priorities into results the business can measure. This role owns the strategy, vendor management, and the pace of delivery for ARCHER’s AI initiatives across Operations, Lien Resolution, Payments, Finance, Client Services, Legal, and HR. The organization is matrixed: the VP owns the AI product owner and business analyst functions directly, while developers report to the VP, Application Development. The VP sits on ARCHER’s Technology Leadership team alongside the VPs of Product, Architecture and Development, Business Systems, and Security Operations, and partners closely with the CIO and ELT functional leaders to identify, prioritize, and deliver AI-enabled solutions that reduce cycle times, lower operating costs, eliminate manual processes, and build advantages in claims administration and lien resolution that competitors can’t easily copy. The successful candidate is a technically fluent leader who has personally delivered intelligent automation and AI in production, with working knowledge of modern LLM and agentic frameworks, capable of moving quickly in a mid-market environment and delivering measurable results against the mandate set out below. The VP inherits a working foundation, including a functioning Center of Excellence, an MCP server estate spanning ARCHER’s core operating, finance, and revenue systems, the ARCHIE agent framework, and a set of initiatives already producing results, and is responsible for maturing and expanding all of it as ARCHER’s long-term AI leader.

Job Responsibilities: 

•  Assess, refine, and execute ARCHER’s enterprise AI and intelligent automation strategy and roadmap, continuously prioritizing initiatives based on value, feasibility, risk, and business need
• Build and scale the AI team, directly owning the AI product owner and the business analysts who translate operational processes into agent-ready specifications, with development resources matrixed in from the VP, Application Development; staff across a blended onshore, offshore, and contractor model and establish reskilling, career, and retention pathways for AI talent
• Partner with functional leaders to identify, scope, and deliver high-value AI initiatives with shared accountability for adoption and measurable business results
• Work as a peer within the Technology Leadership team, aligning AI delivery with Product, Architecture and Development, Business Systems, and Security Operations so agents, platforms, and systems of record advance together rather than on separate tracks; partner with the VP, Application Development on capacity and sequencing for matrixed development resources
• Manage AI and automation platform, partner, and vendor relationships, including evaluation and selection, with investments and agreements recommended to the CIO for final approval
• Expand and harden ARCHER’s existing AI infrastructure, including the ARCHIE agent framework and the estate of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers now running across the QSF, SOW, Import, Finance, RevRec, and helpdesk domains, plus internal knowledge libraries, with accountability for model selection and upgrades, evaluation and testing practices, platform cost control, and resilience
• Own the specification layer the agent framework runs on, including business and functional requirements written as structured markdown that agents consume directly, tool and MCP definitions, and prompt and instruction libraries, all versioned and peer reviewed with the same discipline as code
• Partner with functional leaders to redesign processes, drive adoption, and determine where AI should assist, augment, or automate work, including associated role or workforce changes
• Establish and maintain enterprise AI governance in partnership with Security Operations, Legal, and business leaders, including standards for approved tools, sensitive data, human oversight, agent actions, agent identity, authorization and audit trails, model risk and responsible use
• Partner with Finance and business owners to define, track, and validate the full costs and measurable benefits of AI investments before scaling
• Develop and manage the AI and automation budget, recommending the people, platforms, partners, and investments required to deliver the roadmap
• Represent ARCHER’s AI program externally with clients, partners, and other key stakeholders, including in diligence settings
• Identify opportunities to translate AI capability into client-facing differentiation and new service lines, and present options to the CIO and ELT for decisions on revenue, pricing, and go-to-market
• Use ARCHER’s claims, lien and settlement data to build capabilities competitors can’t replicate, while protecting PII/PHI, and own the intellectual property in the agents and tools the team builds
• Get ARCHER’s data ready for AI, covering quality, lineage, access controls, and a single source of truth in the core operating system, before agent workflows can scale past pilots
• Advance AI-enabled software development practices to improve the productivity and effectiveness of product and engineering teams
• Build AI skills across the business rather than only inside the central team, using shared components, common patterns, and an internal community of practice
• Monitor and evaluate emerging AI technologies, recommending new tools, models, and platform capabilities aligned with ARCHER’s business, security, and architectural requirements
