Role Mission

Medical care for our dogs is one of the largest expenses of the Rescue. Treating our animals 'In House' allows us to steward our resources well and continue the mission of the Rescue, to save as many dogs as possible. This person will be responsible for overseeing and leading the In-House Medical Pack, consisting of the roles: Medical Consultant, In House Laboratory, Whelping Team, Supportive Care and Mobile Canine Care Teams.

Key Results Area #1 - Leadership

• Models Core Values and holds team members accountable to Core Values

• Collaborates with Rescue Leadership frequently, aware of Rescue operations

• Checks in with remote team once daily (M-F)

• First level escalation of issues

• Trains new team members

Key Results Area #3 - Patient Care

• Tracks and monitors current cases, ensuring continuity of care and escalation of care as Medical Consultants deem necessary

  • Mobile Canine Care Team

  • Supportive Care

  • Critical Care/Hospitalization

• Point of Contact for vet partners as needed

  • Works to develop strong relationships and partnership opportunities

• Works closely with all Medical Pack Leaders to ensure accurate record keeping, preventative care schedules and surgeries

Key Results Area #2 - Best Practices/Procedures

• Learns and operates within a 'Rescue Medicine' framework

• Regularly reviews or creates SOPs in collaboration with partner vets and other medical volunteers

• Is aware or creative in cost saving or resource saving processes

Needed Skills

• Experience and love of veterinary medicine - Rescue medicine is hardcore and hands on! This ain't boutique clinic. We provide amazing care with limited resources

• Love of teaching and leading - you have to be able to share your knowledge and teach others with patience. You will be leading a team of volunteers.

• Emotional control - can you think logically when a puppy is dying? Can you help tease out actual facts from a foster who is panicked about her dog?

• Process Improvement - how can we do better? Is there a better process, platform or way?

• Excellent collaboration - you cannot do it all on your own. You are part of a very large team and will be expected to 'play well with others'

Our Mission

At Path of Hope Rescue we save pregnant dogs and puppies from high kill shelters in the Southern United States.

Our Spokane, Washington based Rescue strives to decrease the euthanasia rate of high risk dogs in the southern United States by transporting pregnant dogs and puppies to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive homes. We do not have a kennel or building location and are 100% foster based. We currently have two paid employees and rely heavily on volunteers and fosters as we work to build out our paid staff roles.

We are freedom loving American Patriots who love dogs, love freedom and love Jesus.

No NGO status here, we don't take a single penny from the government. We are 100% funded by small donors and our adoption program, with a few small private grants here and there. We built this organization from the ground up in 2018 with $87.
