Vascular Student Extern

Under direct supervision of a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), the Vascular Student Extern assists in performing non-invasive vascular diagnostic procedures including carotid duplex, venous reflux, and arterial studies while developing clinical competency. 

Responsibilities

• Assists in performing a variety of vascular ultrasound procedures
• Assists with producing clear and undistorted images as indicated per established protocols
• Identifies and visualizes all necessary anatomy, measurements, and correctly labels structures. 
• Recognizes normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology and reports critical values and abnormal findings per established policy and procedures.
• Utilizes 2-Dimensional, M-Mode, color flow, and Doppler imaging techniques when indicated
• Assures correct patient information on requests, reports, and PACS.
• Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Required:

• Education:  Required: Enrolled in an accredited program for Vascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with a vascular concentration
• Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: 
  • American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required. 
  • Must be obtained within 7 days of hire.

Preferred:

• Experience: 0 - 2  years of experience.
