USW HVAC Mechanic 

PER D&D Policy D&D-HR-PRO-00001: Internal employees must be in current position for (1) year or greater to be eligible to apply.  

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, responsible for calibrating, installing, and trouble-shooting on HVAC instrument systems.  Employees classified as HVAC Mechanic classification will trouble-shoot, repair and maintain window air-conditioning units, crane air conditioning units to the load side of the last disconnect and controls, water coolers, walk in coolers, chillers, chiller pumps, condenser control valves, refrigerators, ice machines, self-contained heat pumps and system that contain Freon, SRI or other refrigerant, including cold recovery and cold traps.

Employees classified as Instrument Mechanic will continue to perform HVAC related tasks such as: Air Operated Motors, Pneumatic Controllers, and Calibration of freeze stats, thermostats and Fire stats.
 
Employees classified as Sheetmetal Mechanic will continue to perform HV AC related tasks such as: Installing casings, support brackets, flashing, drip pans pertaining to window type air conditioners. The repair and installation of louvers, ducts, insulation in the ducts, airflow meters for C.F.M. readings. X-710 repair of louvers related to ventilation systems, replacement of ceiling filters for air-conditioning units; replacements of filters in make-up air ducts to exhaust hoods, removal of ceiling panels in support of other groups and cleaning reheat coils.
 
In all cases, including X-100, X-710, cranes, MST, other USEC facilities, the HV AC Mechanic classification will perform electrical maintenance in support of trouble­shooting and repairs back to the first breaker, disconnect, plug or receptacle providing power to the HVAC system (exceptions noted). The Electrician classification will then address issues related to the power supply system from this point back to the power source.

The HV AC Mechanic classification will maintain air conditioning and refrigeration units. This included installation, removal and repair of these units (exceptions are so noted). This work will include PM, evaporator and condenser cleaning; replacement of belts, motors, filters contained in these units and other general maintenance. 

The Maintenance Mechanic classification will install, remove and replace the crane NC units. 

The HVAC Mechanic classification will change filters in those systems that provide cooling. They will maintain coils with Freon/SRI or other refrigerant. They will maintain bearings, belts, filters, PM's and other maintenance on self contained units and rolatron filters. 

The Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic classification(s) will maintain coils which contain water or steam, roof fans, ventilation systems, and maintenance related to air handlers including motors and piping on outside unit as well as ventilation hood filters. 

The HV AC Mechanic classification will maintain the outside unit and the stand alone units contained in the building. This work will include maintenance of belts, filters, motors and other general maintenance for these units.

The Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic classification(s) will maintain belts, bearings, filters, piping boiler, hot water coils from boiler and hot water pumps. 

CONDITIONS OF WORK – AREAS WORKED IN:

Works in all areas of plant.

Must be able to wear company-provided respiratory and other personal protective equipment when required.
