Unarmed Security Officer

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable part-time individual to provide security services for private events and entertainment venues on weekends. The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, customer-focused, and committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.

The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for employees, visitors, customers, and property. This position provides a visible security presence, monitors site activities, enforces policies and procedures, and responds appropriately to incidents and emergencies. The Security Officer serves as a key representative of the organization and is expected to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and excellent customer service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must have current NC PPSB license.
• Conduct regular patrols of assigned premises, both on foot and/or by vehicle, to deter unauthorized activity and maintain a secure environment.
• Monitor facility access points and perform access control procedures for employees, visitors, vendors, and vehicles.
• Observe and monitor surveillance systems, alarm systems, and other security equipment to identify potential security concerns.
• Respond promptly to incidents, suspicious activity, emergencies, and policy violations, taking appropriate action in accordance with company procedures.
• Investigate and document security incidents, disturbances, accidents, and unusual occurrences.
• Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely reports regarding daily activities, incidents, and observations.
• Assist law enforcement, emergency responders, and management personnel when required.
• Enforce company policies, client site rules, and applicable security regulations.
• Provide directions, information, and assistance to employees, visitors, and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Maintain situational awareness and promptly report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or security risks.
• Participate in required training and maintain all certifications, licenses, and qualifications necessary to perform job duties.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensing and Training

• Must possess and maintain all state-required security licenses, certifications, registrations, and training requirements.
• Valid driver's license may be required based on assignment.

Experience

• Previous security, military, law enforcement, customer service, or related experience preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of security experience preferred.

• Knowledge of security operations, surveillance systems, and access control procedures.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies and stressful situations.

• Ability to prepare accurate reports and maintain detailed records.
• Proficient in the use of computers, mobile devices, and security-related technology.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to patrol indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, and perform routine physical security duties.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Security Officers may be assigned to commercial properties, residential communities, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, construction projects, or special events. Work schedules may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as required by operational needs.
