Ultrasonographer II

Purpose:
Performs diagnostic Ultrasound procedures at a technical level requiring limited supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures utilizing existing standards as a guide. Demonstrates the ability to utilize independent judgment in the completion of routine exams/procedures. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required in conjunction with U.S. Tech III, including specialized U.S. areas such as Interventional Ultrasonographic Special Procedures and Portable Imaging. May be assigned station fil position within other areas of the department. Provides direction to U.S. Tech(s) I. Can and will take Cal Duty within assigned area as required. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a technologist.

Responsibilities:
 

• Demonstrates customer-focused, compassionate, and professional communication with internal and external customers using appropriate service standards, empathy, courtesy, and kindness. 
• Supports patient experience by helping ensure access, coordination of care, comfort, timeliness, and safety needs are met.
• Provides direction to Ultrasonographer I staff as necessary.
• Completes Level 1 diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department standards.
• Provides protection from radiation exposure in accordance with prescribed safety standards when assigned to Radiology or working with patients after Nuclear Medicine procedures.
• Assists physicians with the administration of pharmaceutical agents and supports unique procedures as requested.
• Performs all required aspects of PACS and related imaging workflow.
• Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of Administrative Technologists.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Contributes to the overall quality and safety of patient care and support services to reduce risk and improve patient outcomes.
• Follows hospital and departmental safety, risk management, infection control, emergency, and compliance policies, including timely reporting of incidents, injuries, body fluid exposures, and compliance concerns.
• Maintains confidentiality of hospital, patient, employee, disciplinary, performance, and pay-related information at all times.
• Practices CHI Safety First principles and follows established protocols during emergencies and drills.

• High school graduate. 
• Satisfactory completion of an A.M.A. approved school of Clinical Ultrasound Technology. 
• Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or other recognized credentialing body (ex:ARRT) with at least one ultrasound specialty, i.e., Medical (Abdominal, OB/GYN, Opthalmic Cardiac, Vascular, etc.)
• Minimum of one-year clinical ultrasound experience. 
• Must demonstrate the clinical skills necessary to function independently, and to take Call Duty within the division. 
• BLS provider or obtain within 3 months of hire.
