Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Shift: Three 12-hour night shifts (7 pm–7 am), with the ability to cover mid-shifts as needed
Setting: Rural, critical access hospital in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom

This Emergency Department RN role offers fast-paced, hands-on patient care in a rural setting. The ED handles a high patient volume with nine beds and ongoing expansion; the department sees over 15,000 patients annually. The assignment is a temporary travel position; a not-for-profit, independent hospital environment with 24-hour physician-staffed emergency coverage. Please note there is no public transportation in the area, and the closest airport is about two hours away.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a busy ED, including triage, initial assessment, and ongoing monitoring
- Administer medications, perform procedures within scope, and evaluate outcomes
- Collaborate with physicians and specialty teams to coordinate timely and effective patient care
- Adjust nursing care plans based on patient response, with documentation in the EHR (Meditech) and clear handoffs to the next care team
- Respond to emergencies, manage life-threatening events, and support patients and families
- Maintain department flow, prepare patients for admission, discharge, or transfer as appropriate

Requirements
- Current VT or compact multi-state RN license
- BLS and ACLS required
- ER RN experience: minimum 3 years
- TNCC preferred
- Familiarity with Meditech or ability to learn quickly
- Credentialing must be uploaded no later than five business days before start
- Ability to work nights in a rural setting with limited transportation options
- Must be able to cover mid-shifts as needed
