Travel Medical Assistant - Statewide | Temp/Seasonal
Bring your MA skills to patients at home. We are hiring 3 Iowa-based Medical Assistants to support Medicare Annual Wellness Visits and preventive care in the community.
Quick Details
- Location: Des Moines, IA
- Pay: $35 per hour
- Type: W-2 temporary/seasonal, non-exempt
- Project: Expected through January 2027. Extension may be possible but is not guaranteed.
- Hours: Variable based on patient volume and coverage needs. There is no guaranteed weekly minimum.
- Travel: Throughout Iowa, with possible nearby-state travel when needed.
What You’ll Do
- Complete scheduled in-home member visits
- Support Medicare Annual Wellness Visits and other preventive-care activities
- Take vitals, complete screenings, perform approved point-of-care testing, and document visits
- Follow clinical, safety, HIPAA, and infection-control procedures
Travel Support
- Schedules are typically provided about two weeks ahead
- Mileage is reimbursed at $0.725 per mile between patient visits
- Eligible extended or overnight travel expenses are covered, including transportation, rental cars when needed, hotel, and meals
- Required out-of-state travel time is paid
What You’ll Need
- At least one year of Medical Assistant experience
- Medical Assistant certificate, diploma, or credential
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, current registration, and active auto insurance
- Comfort working independently in patients’ homes
- Ability to meet vaccination and TB/PPD onboarding requirements
- Willingness to travel throughout Iowa with possible nearby-state travel when needed.
Nice to Have
- Medicare Annual Wellness Visit, home-visit, or preventive-care experience
- Experience with A1Cs, UAs, specimen collection, or similar point-of-care testing
- Well-Child Visit, primary care, community health, or mobile-care experience
