Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely transportation for patients throughout the hospital using wheelchairs and carts.
- Verify patient identity, communicate clearly about the transport process, and support patient comfort and safety.
- Respond promptly to transport requests, relay important patient information to care teams, and assist during urgent situations, including emergency response activities.
- Follow safe patient handling practices and identify patient-specific needs to ensure quality care.
- Transport equipment and supplies between departments, maintain and sanitize transport equipment, and report maintenance concerns.
- Accurately document patient movement in electronic systems while adhering to HIPAA, infection prevention, OSHA, and hospital safety standards.
- Help maintain a clean, organized environment and demonstrate professionalism in every interaction.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent degree required.
Experience:
- Six (6) months of experience in customer service required.
- Previous patient transport experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) through the American Heart Association required.
- Management of Aggressive Behavior through the Management of Aggressive Behavior Training International Inc (MOAB) preferred.
- IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required.
- IL Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required.
- IA Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required.
- IL Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required.
