Transportation Specialist

Job Summary

HealthForce Kentucky (HFK) in collaboration with Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) is seeking applications for our Transportation Specialist which supports the transportation, logistics, equipment movement, and operational needs of HFK. This position safely operates HFK vehicles to transport personnel, simulation equipment, task trainers, supplies, and other materials to local, regional, and statewide locations. This position may require occasional early morning, evening, weekend, or overnight travel based on transportation and program needs. The Transportation Specialist may also cross-train in entry-level Simulation Operations functions based on organizational need, employee interest, and demonstrated competency. The position is currently grant funded with objectives to secure extended funding.

Job Duties:

•Safely transport personnel, simulation equipment, task trainers, supplies, materials, and other HFK assets to local, regional, and statewide destinations according to established schedules and program needs.
•Safely operate HFK vehicles in accordance with policies, applicable laws, and established safety procedures. Conduct appropriate pre- and post-trip inspections and report vehicle safety or maintenance concerns.
•Monitor vehicle condition and readiness; schedule routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs; maintain accurate vehicle service and maintenance records; and coordinate with approved service providers as needed.
•Load, unload, move, organize, and appropriately secure simulation equipment, supplies, task trainers, and other materials for transportation. Utilize carts, dollies, lift equipment, and team-lifting practices as appropriate.
•Assist with the logistical preparation and deployment of equipment used for HFK mobile simulation, workforce training, community outreach, and other off-site educational programs.
•Assist with receiving deliveries, verifying shipments, moving packages and equipment to appropriate locations, preparing outgoing shipments, and maintaining appropriate documentation.
•Assist with unpacking, basic assembly, staging, preparation, and organization of newly received equipment, supplies, task trainers, furniture, and other HFK assets in accordance with manufacturer instructions and organizational procedures.
•Assist with inventory counts, equipment organization, asset movement, storage, labeling, and tracking. Support the proper placement and organization of supplies and equipment throughout the facility.
•Assist with equipment movement, room preparation, delivery, setup, breakdown, and logistical support for HFK training programs, educational events, community activities, and special projects.
•Complete required transportation and travel documentation, including mileage records, fuel receipts, travel expenses, vehicle logs, maintenance records, and other administrative documentation associated with assigned duties.
•Perform light facility and operational support duties, including organization, furniture and equipment movement, minor non-specialized maintenance activities, and coordination of facility need assigned.
•May participate in structured cross-training in entry-level Simulation Operations functions. Cross training may include simulation room setup and breakdown, equipment preparation, task trainer setup, supply preparation, basic equipment checks, inventory support, and other introductory simulation support functions appropriate to demonstrated competency.
•Inspect transported equipment for visible damage or operational concerns and promptly report damage, missing, or malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate HFK team member.
•Follow established safety, infection prevention, equipment-handling, transportation, and workplace procedures while performing assigned duties.
•Perform other job-related duties consistent with the Transportation Specialist classification and HFK operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

•High school diploma and six (6) years of relevant transportation, logistics, delivery, facilities, warehouse, equipment handling work experience.
•Valid Driver’s license and ability to meet KCTCS requirements for operating institutional vehicles.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

•Associate’s degree and four (4) years of relevant transportation, logistics, delivery, facilities, warehouse, equipment handling work experience.
•Experience driving larger passengers, cargo, or commercial-style vehicles.
•Experience with transportation, logistics, shipping/receiving, warehousing, or equipment delivery.
•Experience working in healthcare, educational, technical, EMS, public safety, or simulation equipment.
•Basic mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to assemble equipment and complete minor non-specialized troubleshooting tasks.
•Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory, asset-tracking, or electronic documentation systems.
•Experience transporting fragile, sensitive, or high-value equipment.
•CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain after hire.
•Interest in healthcare simulation, technical operations, workforce training, or professional development.

Additional Skills Requested:

•Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, load, unload, and move equipment associated with transportation and program activities.
•Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds independently and participate in team lifting or use material-handling equipment for heavier items.
•Ability to travel throughout Kentucky and surrounding regions, including occasional overnight travel.
•Work schedules may occasionally include early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on transportation and program needs.
