Summary
The Traditional Craft Teacher is responsible for instructing community members and students in traditional Pueblo crafts. They also assist the Education Department in planning and supervising after-school, weekend, and summer programs.
Job Description
Job Summary: Under the Department of Education (DOE), the Traditional Craft Teacher is responsible for working with all community members who visit the library for their specific craft classes. This position will help Library patrons with learning traditional crafts of the Pueblo. They will also assist Education Department staff to help work with students and community members during after-school, weekend and summer program activities developed to involve students over the summer, after school hours or on the weekend.
Essential Duties:
- Assist all patrons with learning the craft
- Help with
- Provides friendly and professional assistance to all patrons
- Helps plan, coordinate, and supervise activities and events to engage students in programming.
- Assists attendees during classes to ensure they stay engaged and participate.
- Assists with Library needs when available.
- Assists with activities for students and adults when they visit the library.
- Assists as needed with Education Director and all other Education Department staff
- Submits timesheets to ensure pay for hours worked.
Qualifications:
- Education: Knowledge a Traditional Craft and willingness to teach to classes groups (example: Leather work, beading, weaving, sewing, etc.)
- Experience/Basic Knowledge: Ability to work with students and others in a kind manner.
- Physical Requirements: Must have manual dexterity to enter and retrieve data from a computer. Ability to sit and stand for long periods. Bends and stoops regularly. Ability to lift and move boxes up to 25 lbs.
Preferences: San Felipe Preference and Veteran’s Preference.
