A little about Reno-Sparks Indian Colony

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC) is a federally recognized tribal government dedicated to the economic and social advancement of its people. Established in the early 1900s and formally recognized under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, the RSIC represents over 1,100 members of the Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe Tribes—Three Tribes, One Nation. Our lands include the original 28-acre Colony in central west Reno and a 1,920-acre community in Hungry Valley, located 19 miles north of the Colony in the scenic Eagle Canyon region of Nevada. The RSIC is a vibrant and growing organization that honors traditional teachings and cultural heritage while embracing modern business practices and innovative governance. Day to day as a Retail Clerk

As a Part-Time Retail Clerk at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony's Smoke Shop, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of a community hub. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of essential tasks, including delivering outstanding customer service, managing register operations, and ensuring accurate inventory control and store setup. In addition to these duties, you will maintain a clean and organized environment while implementing effective loss control measures.

This position offers a unique opportunity to blend traditional values with modern retail practices, all while fostering a positive experience for customers and contributing to the overall success of the Smoke Shop.

To excel as a Part-Time Retail Clerk at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony’s Smoke Shop, candidates must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate at the time of hire. Physical stamina is essential, as the role requires lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods. A passing score on a pre-employment basic math test demonstrates the necessary numerical proficiency for register operations and inventory management.

Ideal candidates will have prior experience in roles, whether volunteer or paid, that involve direct customer interaction and service. Additionally, flexibility in scheduling is crucial, as the position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays. By embodying these skills, you will contribute significantly to the customer-focused environment that defines our Smoke Shop.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate at the time of hire.
• physical ability to lift, stoop, carry, bend, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
• passing score on pre-employment basic math test.
• prior work in a volunteer or paid status requiring interaction with and service to customers; and
• ability to work flexible hours including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays.
