Temporary Part-Time Mental Health Counselor, Sports Medicine

Boston College is seeking a temporary part-time Mental Health Counselor to provide mental health counseling and related clinical support to student-athletes within Sports Medicine, Murray Center for Student Wellness. The counselor will provide individual counseling, consultation, crisis support, and referrals, while collaborating with medical, athletic training, and campus partners to support the holistic well-being and success of student-athletes.

This position is expected to work approximately 20 hours per week and may provide clinical consultation and supervision to other counseling or mental health professionals as appropriate.

Competitive salary commensurate with relevant experience with an expected range of $37-$51 per hour.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related mental health field.
• Active independent clinical licensure in Massachusetts (e.g., LICSW or LMHC).
• Demonstrated experience providing mental health counseling to college students; experience working with student-athletes is preferred.
• Experience addressing a range of student mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, adjustment, relationships, stress, and crisis situations.
• Understanding of the unique mental health, performance, academic, and personal demands experienced by collegiate student-athletes, including the intersection of mental health and athletic participation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with medical providers, athletic trainers, coaches, campus partners, and other mental health professionals while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries and confidentiality.
• Experience providing clinical supervision or consultation preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, assessment, and crisis-response skills.
