Temporary Field Director

Citizen Action is a statewide grassroots movement organization that fights for political, social, racial, economic and environmental justice. We work at the grassroots to give people a sense of their own power. We collaborate with organizations and coalitions in communities throughout New York to address critical issues at the local, state and federal levels. 

About the position 

Citizen Action is looking to add a temporary Field Director to our team. The Field Director position focuses on supporting Citizen Action’s door to door canvassing operation Statewide. This position will report to the Political Director.

What you’ll do and the impact you'll make

• Work with the Political Director to recruit more applicants for the canvasser job
• Train and field new canvassers
• Provide logistical support for the Statewide canvass, including ensuring that canvassers are supplied and restocked with campaign collateral
• Availability afternoons, and evenings during the week and/or on weekends
• Any other duties as required by the Political Director

Skills/Qualifications

• Ability to recruit and train new canvasser applicants
• Great communication and people skills respect for diverse communities and varied worldviews
• Ability to go door-to-door
• Patience and persistence
• Access to a computer with internet access
• Access to a phone
• Comfort using basic online software
• A commitment to promoting racial and gender justice
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to travel statewide

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will supervise door canvassers as designated by the Political Director.

Location

This position will be based anywhere in New York State with occasional travel to different areas around New York State.

Salary: $7,000/month
