Teen Court Volunteer - Ages 10 - 17

The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller is looking for volunteers! Volunteering is a way to give back to the community and connect with other citizens.

The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller runs the Teen Court program in compliance with St. Johns County Ordinance 2005-86. This program is built on the idea young people who commit criminal offenses are less likely to re-offend if judged and sanctioned by a jury of their peers.

In Teen Court, a jury of teens doesn’t decide if a person is guilty or not—they only give a fair sentence to help the offender make better choices. Before the case is presented to a jury, the juvenile offender must admit and agree to participate voluntarily. This program is available to first time offenders who have committed misdemeanors and non-violent felony offenses. If the offender completes their sentence, they can move forward without having a criminal record.

An applicant eligible for Veteran's Preference who believes he or she was not afforded employment preferences in accordance with Florida law may file a complaint requesting an investigation with the Florida department of veterans affairs. A complaint must be filed within 60 calendar days from the date that the notice of hiring decision is received by the applicant or within three calendar months of the date of the application is filed within the employer if no notice is given. If no notice is given, it is the responsibility of the preferred applicant to contact the employer to determine if the position has been filled.
