Hey Students! Are you passionate about writing and love turning complex ideas into clear, engaging content? Become a Technical Writer Intern at Royal Credit Union! In this role, you’ll collaborate with professionals, create impactful documentation, and gain hands-on experience with industry tools like MadCap Flare and Microsoft Word.

All applicants must be located in the Chippewa Valley Area & include a resume, cover letter, transcript and their anticipated graduation date when applying. If selected for the internship, you must be able to commit to the full 12 months and be enrolled at a university throughout the length of the internship. Must be able to work onsite at the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI, throughout the school year and during breaks.

What You’ll Do:

The Technical Writer Intern will Collect, manage, and analyze information, and explain complex information in a clear and concise manner. Develop, edit, and publish online and hard copy user documentation using Microsoft Word and technical authoring tools such as MadCap Flare.

Our Commitment To You:

• Compensation: $17.85-19.98 per hour (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)

Intern Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

• Write, edit, and publish documentation for assigned projects using Royal’s style guide and tools like MadCap Flare and Microsoft Word.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal teams to gather information and ensure accuracy in all deliverables.
• Maintain and update content using content management systems, researching and implementing new capabilities as needed.
• Meet performance goals and objectives while supporting Royal’s core values and culture.
• Ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, including completing necessary reports such as CTRs and SARs when required.

What’s Needed For This Position:

• Enrolled at a University or Technical College throughout the length of the internship, pursuing a degree, minor, or certificate in English, Business Communication, Rhetoric, or other related field.

• Must be bondable
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools like PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working in a team environment and conducting interviews to gather information.
• Quick to learn new technologies and adept at using digital tools and content management systems.

What We’d Love To See:

• Completed or currently enrolled in a course focused on technical communication.
• Education in communication with a Technical Writing emphasis.
• One year experience working in a service-focused environment.
• One year experience working in a writing-focused role.

Work Schedule:

• Working approximately 15–20 hours per week during the school year and 30–40 hours per week during the summer. Generally working variable hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday based on class schedule.
• Must be able to work onsite at Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI throughout the school year and during breaks.
• This is a limited term, non-benefit eligible, position that will go from January 2027 through January 2028.
• Must be able to commit to the 12 month internship.

Training:

• Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
• Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal’s culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
