Technical Advisor (part-time)

We are hiring an experienced Technical Advisor (Part-Time) for our Kirtksville, MO location.

Job Summary

The Technical Advisor is a hands-on technical leader who supports production operations through equipment troubleshooting, machine optimization, operator training, and continuous improvement efforts. Working directly alongside production teams, this role provides both practical floor support and technical expertise to improve productivity, quality, and equipment reliability while mentoring and developing others.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Technical Guidance & Support

• Provide technical expertise on machine performance, setup, and production best practices.
• Coach and mentor operators, adjusters, and supervisors.
• Support training and knowledge development as needed.

Machine Setup & Adjustment Oversight

• Advise on machine setup and adjustments to meet job specifications.
• Provide guidance on feeding, folding, gumming, sealing, and related functions.
• Perform hands-on adjustments when necessary.

Quality Oversight

• Monitor production quality and recommend corrective actions.
• Help identify root causes and implement quality improvements.

Troubleshooting Support

• Assist with diagnosing mechanical and operational issues.
• Recommend corrective and preventive solutions.

Production Optimization

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and increase output.
• Support productivity and cost-saving initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

• Promote compliance with safety procedures and operational standards.
• Reinforce safe equipment operation and maintenance practices.

Documentation & Reporting

• Review technical records, maintenance logs, and related documentation.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and improvement opportunities to leadership.

Pay & Work Schedule

• Hourly Pay: $30/hr or higher depending on experience
• Scheduled hours will not exceed 24 hours per week.
• Flexibility required based on business needs

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; strong math skills.
• Intermediate computer proficiency preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of envelope machine adjusting experience, including multiple machine types.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and communicate effectively across teams.
• Demonstrated history of improving machine speeds and production efficiency.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Flexibility to assist with shift coverage or hands‑on support when required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Requires frequent standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, grasping, and reaching.
• Ability to perform a volume of mechanical detail work with speed and accuracy; manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry 50 lbs., push 100 lbs., pull 75 lbs.
• Exposure to noise; must wear hearing protection and safety shoes.
