General Summary

The Teaching Artists / Sunday School Teachers include Lead and Assistant Teaching Artists who provide teaching, care, and support to the children of Marble Church’s congregation and staff.  The Teaching Artists / Sunday School Teachers report to the Director of CYF.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Based on age group, Teaching Artists / Sunday School Teachers are asked to:

1. Infants:  Feed, change diapers, soothe when child is upset, fully interact
2. Toddlers:  Change diapers/help with toileting needs; fix small snacks; help children through separation anxiety; support children’s participation in arts activities; fully engage through conversation, play, structured activities
3. Children in Sunday School:   Teach and support children’s participation in structured lessons and activities, manage the class for brief periods, clean-up the classroom after class ends
4. Check-in all children with a strict eye on special needs and allergies 
5. Assist with children and families when engaged in worship activities and performances (ex: anthems and speaking on the chancel, special events, ushering, etc.)
6. All age groups require warm and professional interactions with our children, parents, and staff
7. Lead Teaching Artist: Plan and teach Sunday school lessons
8. Manage the class, including any behavior challenges
9. Support children during choir rehearsal
10. Promptly communicate concerns about children and families to Director of CYF
11. Provide mentorship and training to congregational volunteers when needed

Our ideal candidate must:

3. Be energetic, flexible, a team player and work well independently
4. Clearly and warmly communicate with children, parents and staff
5. Have experience working with children of all ages
6. Work Sundays.  Regular shifts are 9:30am to 12:30pm with the possibility for growth

Schedule:  Sundays and shifting weekday hours based on the needs of the ministry and requests of senior ministry leadership.
