Job DetailsJob Location: Yakima, WA 98908Position Type: Part TimeEducation Level: High School or GEDSalary Range: $17.20 - $17.20 HourlyTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayProvide classroom coverage and support to the early learning classrooms at Carroll Children’s Center and Growing Hope Child & Family Development Center. The role of the Floater is to be available on a part time basis to cover for classroom shifts that vary between the hours of 7:00am-5:45pm. The Floater supports the classroom team with implementing a developmentally appropriate classroom that supports Childrens’ language, physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, create and maintain a safe and healthy environment

Report needed repairs and maintenance to assigned classroom staff.
Provide a safe, developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environment
Apply health standards and care for the children and classroom

Under the direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, support with planning & provide curriculum through normal care giving routines

Establish a learning environment to build and enhance each child’s self-esteem and positive self-concept
Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental level and learning style of each child
Implement positive guidance practices that teach and meet the individual temperaments of each child.

Maintain open, friendly and cooperative verbal and written communication with each Childs’ family

Under the direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, foster positive guidance, engagement and communication in the classroom

Guide and sustain positive interactions between children and adults.
Maintain an atmosphere that encourages open communication with children and adults. 
Provide opportunities and support for children to understand, acquire, and use verbal and non-verbal means of communicating thoughts and feelings.

Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff

Continuing professional development

Participate in required training requirements according to licensing standards.
Participate in scheduled supervision, required meetings and training

Participate in Center activities and other duties as requested
QualificationsJob Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds or performing other work requiring medium physical exertion, talking and hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements.  These physical demands are required up to 95% of the time.

Non-Physical Requirements:

Education

ECE Initial Certificate or CDA, preferred, or an approved DCYF Professional Development Plan
High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience

1 year’s experience working with children in a formal or non-formal setting.

Preschool/Infant - Toddler Classroom Experience
Training in Creative Curriculum
Basic computer skills

Licensure, Registration, Certification

Valid food handler’s card
Valid First Aid and CPR card
Verification of a negative TB test
HIV/AIDS Training
STARS Training
Child Care Basics Training

Employment is conditional upon:

Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting through MERIT.

Wage: $17.20 hour

Work Schedule: Varies depending on coverage needs
