Job Description:
Do you enjoy assisting a variety of people each day? Then consider applying for a Motor Vehicle Technician
position with the Taylorsville DMV office. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and
pass a FBI level criminal background check.

Job Duties
As a Motor Vehicle Technician, you will:

• Issue license plates, permits, registrations, certificates, etc.
• Receive, research and respond to incoming questions or complaints; provide information, explain policy
  and procedures, and/or facilitate a resolution.
• Process transactions at a Point-of-Sale system, give correct change and close cash drawer at end of shift.
• Assist the public and others to complete forms, applications and other paperwork.
• Examine documents to verify applicability, legibility, completeness, accuracy, and/or consistency of
  information from one document to another, etc.
• Perform comprehensive physical inspection of motor vehicles to verify the Vehicle Identification Number
  (VIN).

Salary
Non-state employees are hired for this position at $19.68 an hour.
We are unable to negotiate hourly wage amounts. DHRM rules apply for promotions/transfers for current state
employees.

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

• Experience in understanding processes and procedures and to apply those in day to day functions.
• Experience with effectively communicating with a wide variety of people.
• Experience in following laws and rules and handling customers tactfully and with professionalism.
• Experience using computer programs in day to day functions.
• Experience with attention to detail and accurately handling money.

Other Requirements
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment,avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work;however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carryinglight items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demandsare not required to perform the work.
