Program Summary
The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.

Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary
The Tool and Die Maker (Part-time) supports maintenance and logistics operations by managing tools, parts, and materials required for repair and sustainment activities. The role is responsible for issuing, receiving, tracking, and maintaining accountability of tools and parts to ensure availability and serviceability. This role supports maintenance efficiency and readiness by ensuring proper tool control and material availability.

Roles and Responsibilities 
•    Performs a variety of duties involved in the requisitioning, receipt, verification, storage, identification, issue, inventory and accounting of gages and components used in all programs of shop areas. 
•    Maintains control records of all tools/gages requiring calibration and ensures that calibration is accomplished as scheduled.
•    Operates tool and stock room to maintain an appropriate supply level of expendable and non-expendable tools and equipment utilized in support of the repair and maintenance functions of the division/directorate. Stock consists of: hand and portable power tools such as hammers, sledge hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, chisels, saws, hand drills, sanders, power drills, grinders, electric and air hammers, pipe cutters, punches, reamers, die sets, tool kits; protective clothing and equipment i.e. coveralls, rain suits, gloves, respirator, etc.
•    Receipt, Storage and Re-warehousing: Receives, verifies identity, quantity and condition. Bins item and ensure that items are arranged for convenience and for safeguarding of breakable and precision items. Assured returned items are clean and in a serviceable condition prior to storage. Converts shop terms to standard nomenclatures to identify and locate items. Items include component parts of all types and sizes and gages, micro-meters, fixtures, calipers, indicators, stop watches, multi-meters, scales and a variety of electronic items such as stroboscopes, thermometers, etc. Performs necessary tagging and binning. Performs minor repairs on gages, etc. Establish new bin locations as necessary and re-warehousing items to affect space economics and for convenience in storing and issuing.
•    Selects and Issues: Selects and issues tools, equipment and kits as requested by operating personnel. Translates shop terminology into official nomenclature to identify items (s). Uses technical references and occasionally measuring devices to select requested item. Fills out hand receipt for items issued and obtains signature of recipient. Releases personnel from responsibility upon return of item.
•    Replenishment: As results of inventory of bin level, notifies supervisor or designated individual, in writing, of stock requirement by stock number, quantity and. price. Obtains required information from various technical manuals, commercial catalogues, FEDLOG, internet searches, online catalogs, and related publications.
•    Repair and Disposal: Checks condition of tools as returned. Recommend salvage or repair of items. Obtains services of quality inspector for final determination. Collects and delivers repairable items to appropriate repair shop and picks-up items when repairs are completed. Follows up to see that items are repaired and returned to service without undue delay.
•    Minor Maintenance: Checks assigned tool bins frequently and performs maintenance on items. Conducts inventory by physical count of items on hand and entering on inventory counting slips. Searches bins for misplaced items or item recounts. Cleans bins and applies appropriate preservation processes to prevent deterioration of tools.
•    Inventory: Inventories assigned bins for stock level and reorder point on a scheduled basis. Initiates replenishment request for additional materials and for replacement tools. Participates in the annual or other special inventory as required. In case of discrepancies searches for lost, misplaced, misidentified or incorrectly stored items.
•    Laundry Service: Receives soiled coveralls, gloves, protective clothing and equipment. Tallies items in and prepare laundry checklist. Releases laundry to truck driver for delivery to laundry. Tallies in clean laundry. Notifies truck drivers of missing items. If these items cannot be located or accounted for, incumbent notifies supervisor. Ensures that identification is stenciled on coveralls. Performs other duties as assigned such as performing housekeeping duties in tool room and adjacent areas.
•    Pick-up and Delivery: Operates a 1/2-ton vehicle having three forward gears for the pick-up or delivery of supplies from supply source, repair shops or property disposal. Loads and unloads light cargo and assists in loading heavier items. Verifies identity and correct quantity of supplies. Signs appropriate form for receipt or release. Delivers supplies to designated location or person. Performs prescribed maintenance on vehicle and completes trip report forms.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications 
•    High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred
•    Typically 1-3 years of experience in tool room operations, supply support, inventory control, or related field
•    Skill in verifying short, over, and damaged conditions of incoming stock by such means as opening, counting and visually checking the contents of containers.
•    Knowledge of procedures for reporting short, over, and damaged conditions of incoming stock.
•    Ability to make reports on these conditions to the supervisor or other responsible supply personnel when required.
•    Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
•    U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications
•    Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
•    Prior government contracting experience

Additional Information
This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.

The salary range for this position is $69,000 - $103,500. Compensation offered will depend on qualifications, experience, work location, and business considerations. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. Additional compensation and benefits may be available based on role eligibility.
