Summary
The Reading Specialist implements instructional programs tailored to student needs and monitors student achievement. They also collaborate with school staff and parents while maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment.
Job Description
This position is a 0.5 FTE located at Barcroft Elementary School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
- Must have or be eligible for reading endorsement (masters in reading or masters in another teaching area plus reading endorsement).

Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Teaching experience in the above mentioned area
- Knowledge of best instructional practices
- Ability to integrate technology
- Experience in educational and instructional leadership
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements instructional programs that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students using appropriate instructional materials
- Maintains safe and orderly environment
- Communicates with parents/guardians
- Maintains complete and accurate student records
- Collaborates with school administrators, other teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and community members
- Monitors and assesses student achievement
- Attends ongoing professional learning and meetings
SALARY:
Salary based on the 2026-27 salary schedule
