Systems Engineer

Job Details: Job Location: NIWC IT OT - Mount Pleasant, SC, Position Type: 1099 Contractor, Salary Range: $70.00 - $90.00Hourly, Travel Percentage: None, TIAG is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer for a high-priority, three-month surge effort supporting a lab system at NIWC Atlantic in Charleston, SC.

The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on expertise in staging, configuring, and integrating enterprise-class server environments and networking infrastructure. This role focuses on the physical and logical deployment of Dell Enterprise (Epic/PowerEdge) server platforms alongside Cisco networking hardware to establish a fully functional, secure lab environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Hardware Staging & Integration - Unpack, rack, stack, power, cable, and configure Dell Epic/PowerEdge enterprise servers and Cisco network devices (switches, routers, firewalls).
System Configuration - Perform initial OS/hypervisor installations, firmware updates, and system-level configurations on Dell servers.
Network Integration - Configure VLANs, subnets, routing protocols, and access controls on Cisco switches and routers in alignment with architecture designs.
Lab Readiness & Testing - Conduct end-to-end connectivity, power-on, and integration testing to ensure lab readiness for operational workloads and testing teams.
Cybersecurity & Compliance - Apply STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and baseline hardening to both server platforms and network appliances. Documentation - Create and maintain lab layout diagrams, cabled topology maps, rack elevations, configuration files, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Cross-Functional Coordination - Collaborate closely with NIWC project managers, lead architects, and network security teams to meet strict surge milestones.

Qualifications:
On-site presence required at NIWC Atlantic facilities in Charleston, SC.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (racking heavy server and network hardware).
Active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret/SCI eligible preferred).
Active DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent).
Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in systems engineering, network infrastructure, or lab deployment preferably within a DoD/Navy environment.
Proven hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Enterprise server environments (Dell PowerEdge/Epic series, iDRAC, RAID configurations, and virtualized environments using VMware vSphere/ESXi).
Proficiency in configuring Cisco enterprise switches, routers, and firewalls (Cisco IOS/NX-OS, VLANs, Trunking, Spanning Tree, ACLs).

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with NIWC Atlantic processes, lab facilities, and security standards.
Experience with EURAFCENT C4I systems or enterprise Navy architectures.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Dell Technologies Proven Professional certifications.
Experience automating baseline deployments using scripting tools (Ansible, PowerShell, or Python).
