Location: Toms River

Alliance Alliance Orthopedics is searching for a Surgical Technologist experienced in orthopedics, pain management, spinal surgery, podiatry, and vascular specialties to join our team. Minimum of 1 year experience required in hospital or multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center setting. The Surgical Technologist will effectively assist the surgeon during procedures. To be successful in this role, the Surgical Technologist must deliver exceptional service as well as prepare patients, rooms and equipment for pending surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience or advanced knowledge of an orthopedic setting. The superb candidate will be able to assist at a high level during procedures as part of a team in the operating room.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1. Is responsible and accountable for own practice and surgical technique functioning under the direct supervision of the peri-operative nurse.
2. Patient Care/Clinical Practice
3. Meets standards of job performance and clinical competence for the Surgical Scrub Technician and as a non-licensed patient care assistant.
4. Adheres to standards of patient care within the framework of the standards of the Center.
5. Ensures a safe environment for all patients, families and staff.
6. Maintains surgeon preference case data and instrument and equipment inventory.
7. Accurately monitors and documents in Center logs ensuring those regulatory requirements are met.
8. Participates in the execution of the operative schedule in a safe and quality manner demonstrating flexibility with necessary changes and arrangements for added operations, cancellations or deviations in the plan of care.
9. Demonstrates cognizance of center policies, procedures and job descriptions.
10. Demonstrates analytical abilities necessary to identify a problem and to assist the perioperative registered nurse in the development and implementation of resolution.
11. Actively participates in the Center’s quality management, performance improvement monitoring and assists with preparation of these presentations and reports.
12. Works flexible hours in assuming responsibility and accountability for the job role.
13. Assumes roles of other perioperative non-license team members as necessary assisting in all areas of the Center.
14. Changes gas cylinders as necessary to maintain gas system integrity.  Ensures communication of needs for replacement tanks and system problems/difficulties.
15. Seeks learning opportunities and demonstrates skill level and capabilities as a member of the peri-operative staff at the Center, contributing to the Center’s “Measure of Success” for quality outcomes.
16. Promotes cooperation and minimizes disruption to the working environment.
17. Maintains physician preference cards and updates as necessary.
18. Picks instrumentation, supplies and equipment for cases on the OR schedule.
19. Performs job responsibilities associated with the soiled and clean utility rooms for instrumentation and equipment cleaning and sterilization.

Qualification: -Must have a High School Graduate Diploma or equivalent.  -Is a graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or equivalent credential.  -Demonstrated competence as a Surgical technician in an operating room with recent one year experience preferred. Special Skills/Licensure/Certifications-BLS required-Languages skills: ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.  Additional languages are desirable.
