Surgical Liaison

What You Will Do

• Must exhibit competency in working with patients of various age groups to demonstrate the mission, vision and values of UHCMC, as well as facilitate customer satisfaction through interactions with patients, guests, physicians and employees.
• Provide patient and hospital information to the community and other hospital personnel paying close attention the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
• Provide information via direct contact or by phone.
• Demonstrate knowledge and use of available resources and communication tools.
• Maintain awareness, organization, and control of reception desk and surrounding area.

Additional Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
• For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

• High School Equivalent / GED (Required)

Work Experience

• 1+ years experience in a patient care environment. (Required) and
• Physician’s office or clinical area (Preferred) and
• Clinical/secretarial experience (Required) and
• Medical terminology (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision (Required proficiency)
