Summary
Assist physicians during surgical procedures and manage the preparation and handling of surgical instruments. Maintain professional communication with the surgical team and learn advanced techniques and instrumentation.
Job Description
Location: 1720 Medical Park Dr Biloxi, MS 39532
Contributes to the team by assisting the physician with the performance of surgical procedures and instruments.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess one of the following: Certification from an accredited school for Operating Room Technician or within 90 days of successful program completion; or graduate from an accredited practical nursing school, or extensive preparation through on-the-job training.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years training in surgical technology from a comparable medical institution.
- LPNs must have one (1) years’ experience as a scrub technician. Or, a graduate of an accredited program in Surgical Technology or within 90 days of successful program completion may substitute for experience.
Licensure: Must have current licensure as indicated by profession (LPN must be licensed by State Board of Nursing).
Preferred: Certification in Surgical Technology
Skills and Qualifications: Proficient Knowledge of duties and responsibilities of a surgical technician. The ability to communicate with co-workers in a professional manner. The ability to learn advanced procedures, instruments, and techniques.
