The Supply Chain Analyst manages a portfolio of 15–20 suppliers and oversees inventory for one or more manufacturing plants, ensuring the timely flow of materials to support production. This role focuses on both tactical execution and strategic supply chain initiatives, including purchase order management, root cause analysis of shortages, and continuous process improvement across the entire supply chain. The analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams, leads supply chain projects, and drives process enhancements to optimize logistics costs, materials flow, and supplier performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage 15–20 suppliers, including those supplying multiple plants, and oversee inventory levels for all relevant locations.
• Monitor purchase orders (POs), including those received, delayed, and not received, to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment.
• Review and analyze open order reports from suppliers each Monday to track PO shipment status and address discrepancies.
• Communicate with suppliers primarily via email, and when necessary by phone, to obtain status updates and resolve PO issues.
• Conduct 5Y or similar root cause investigations when orders require expedited fees, miss shipment dates, or result in shortages, and implement permanent corrective actions with management support.
• Focus on tactical supply chain projects while contributing to strategic initiatives that enhance overall supply chain performance.
• Represent the supply chain function on cross-functional business unit teams and act as a key liaison between supply chain and other departments.
• Propose, implement, and support multi-site or high-level business tools and process enhancements to drive continuous process improvement.
• Analyze and document supply chain processes using established standards and methodologies to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Analyze the end-to-end supply chain, including logistics costs, materials, and sourcing strategies, to identify optimization opportunities.
• Recommend and support the implementation of improvements based on detailed supply chain analysis.
• Lead the integration of new high-level process changes across the supply chain and ensure smooth adoption by stakeholders.
• Manage large projects related to changes in the supply chain, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
• Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly and regularly to all levels of management.
• Develop and deliver business plans or models for operations management and other supply chain leaders to support decision-making.
• Define high-risk or high-level problems, collect and analyze data, develop solutions, and implement actions to achieve desired results.
• Identify, develop, and complete strategic-level work plans for the entire supply chain or for high-risk projects.
• Own, develop, and implement business processes and related improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Facilitate small to medium-sized teams with clear objectives and scope to deliver process or project outcomes.
• Manage cross-functional projects that span the entire supply chain, coordinating efforts across departments.
• Align project and process improvement goals with broader functional business objectives to ensure strategic fit.
• Work independently across the supply chain in a non-hierarchical environment, taking initiative and driving results.
• Provide back-up support for area coordinators, supervisors, and managers as needed to maintain operational continuity.
• Lead tactical projects with teams of 3 to 5 people or direct the work of others within projects or process improvement activities.
• Provide indirect work direction to individuals assigned to strategic projects, ensuring alignment and progress.
• Manage procurement, inventory, and vendor management activities to support consistent material availability and production schedules.
• Utilize ERP and SAP systems, including Material Master data, to manage inventory, POs, and supply chain transactions.
• Respond to material shortages by driving recovery efforts, working closely with problem suppliers, and implementing measures to improve vendor performance.

Essential Skills

• Direct manufacturing experience in a buying or Supply Chain Analyst role for at least 3 years.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems, including SAP and SAP S/4HANA.
• Understanding and practical use of Material Master data within ERP systems.
• Proven ability to run 5Y or 8D investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of permanent corrective actions for shortages.
• Demonstrated experience managing material shortages and leading recovery efforts with suppliers.
• Experience in procurement, inventory management, and vendor management within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to analyze entire supply chains, including logistics costs, materials, and sources, and recommend improvements.
• Capability to define high-risk or high-level problems, collect and analyze data, and implement effective solutions.
• Experience leading or managing supply chain projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with suppliers and communicating project status to all levels of management.
• Ability to work independently across the supply chain and thrive in a non-hierarchical organization.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, with a Supply Chain degree highly preferred.
• Automotive industry experience.
• Experience working in a company with a similar scale of operations, such as managing approximately 22 million in inventory and 6,500–7,000 parts for a plant under North American material control.
• Familiarity with environments handling 350–450 parts per build and 100–150 builds per day.
• Experience managing 15–20 suppliers, including those supplying multiple plants, and coordinating inventory for all supported sites.
• Experience with continuous process improvement and implementation of high-level business tools.
• Ability to facilitate small to medium-sized teams with explicit objectives and scope.
• Experience providing indirect work direction to individuals on strategic projects.

Work Environment

The role operates in a manufacturing-focused environment with a strong emphasis on supply chain and materials management, supported by ERP systems such as SAP and SAP S/4HANA and advanced use of Microsoft Excel. The position is full-time at 40 hours per week, with a one-hour unpaid lunch each day. Core hours are 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during which the analyst must be available. The broader schedule offers flexibility as needed, provided it is not abused. The dress code is casual to business casual. The organization manages significant inventory volumes and a large number of parts, creating a dynamic, fast-paced setting where cross-functional collaboration, project work, and continuous improvement are integral. The role offers benefits such as two weeks of paid time off, six paid holidays, and flexibility in scheduling within the defined core hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holland, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $40.87/hr.
