About the Role

We’re looking for a Supply, Capacity & Inventory Planner to join our Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for translating demand requirements, available production capacity, and manufacturing capabilities into an executable supply and capacity plan that balances customer service, inventory investment, and efficient production.

You’ll own capacity planning, supply-demand balancing, and inventory planning across work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, raw materials, and packaging materials. You’ll identify capacity and supply imbalances, develop solutions to close gaps, and ensure inventory is maintained at appropriate SKU-level targets while minimizing aging, excess and obsolete inventory, and working capital.

What You’ll Do

Supply & Capacity Planning

• Translate demand plans, available production hours, manufacturing capabilities, line constraints, and production requirements into an integrated supply and capacity plan.
• Develop and maintain capacity plans by manufacturing work group, production line, and other relevant manufacturing constraints.
• Understand available, committed, and required capacity and proactively identify gaps before they impact customer service.
• Balance supply and demand by identifying and resolving capacity and supply imbalances.
• Develop scenarios and recommendations to address capacity constraints, including production timing, allocation, inventory positioning, and run strategies.
• Partner closely with Production Planning to determine what should be produced, when, and in what quantities while balancing customer service, inventory targets, manufacturing efficiency, and available capacity.
• Maintain forward visibility into capacity requirements and communicate emerging constraints to Operations and leadership.

Inventory Planning & Management

• Own inventory planning across raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
• Establish and maintain SKU-level minimum and maximum inventory targets.
• Develop weekly, monthly, and annual inventory plans and monitor performance against those plans.
• Identify risks related to shortages, excess inventory, aging, slow-moving or obsolete inventory, and inappropriate inventory positioning.
• Develop and execute strategies to reduce inventory while protecting customer service and manufacturing requirements.
• Manage inventory working capital and identify opportunities to reduce capital tied up in inventory.
• Monitor weeks of forward coverage and establish appropriate inventory targets based on demand, supply requirements, manufacturing constraints, lead times, and business objectives.

Cross-Functional Planning & Accountability

• Partner with Demand Planning, Production Planning, and Operations to drive inventory accuracy and adherence to agreed inventory plans.
• Incorporate forecast accuracy and forecast bias into inventory and capacity decisions.
• Align production schedules with inventory requirements, customer service objectives, available capacity, and efficient production runs.
• Identify root causes of inventory deviations and establish corrective actions with the appropriate teams.
• Provide leadership with clear visibility into inventory risks, capacity constraints, and supply-demand imbalances.

Planning Process & Performance

• Own the weekly, monthly, and annual Supply, Capacity & Inventory Planning cycle.
• Establish planning processes, operating rhythms, KPIs, and accountability mechanisms.
• Lead regular planning reviews focused on supply-demand balance, capacity, inventory performance and aging, working capital, production requirements, risks, and mitigation actions.
• Develop what-if scenarios to evaluate demand changes, capacity constraints, inventory targets, and production decisions.
• Continuously improve planning processes, systems, data quality, and analytical capabilities.
• Ensure planning assumptions, constraints, and inventory targets are accurately maintained in planning and ERP systems.

Planning Models & Analytics

• Utilize and continuously improve supply and inventory planning models to evaluate supply-demand balance, manufacturing capacity, inventory requirements, and potential scenarios.
• Translate business requirements and planning assumptions into model inputs, validate outputs, and use insights to identify capacity constraints, inventory risks, and working-capital opportunities.
• Troubleshoot and refine data-driven planning models, identify data issues, challenge assumptions, and translate model outputs into actionable supply and inventory decisions.

Core Deliverables

• An integrated capacity plan that converts demand requirements into manufacturing capacity requirements.
• A balanced supply plan that identifies and resolves gaps between required supply and available capacity.
• A SKU-level inventory plan with defined minimum and maximum targets.
• Weekly, monthly, and annual inventory plans with clear targets and accountability.
• Inventory aging and obsolescence reduction plans.
• Working-capital reduction initiatives related to inventory.
• Forward capacity visibility by manufacturing work group.
• Clear accountability for inventory performance across Demand Planning, Production Planning, and Operations.
• Scenario analysis that enables leadership to make informed trade-offs between service, inventory, capacity, and manufacturing efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

• 
  5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, production planning, supply planning, inventory planning, or manufacturing planning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capacity constraints.
• Demonstrated experience with inventory planning and working-capital management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex demand, capacity, and inventory information into clear, actionable decisions.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP and/or planning systems.
• Experience with S&OP/IBP processes preferred.
• Strong cross-functional communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to challenge assumptions and drive accountability across cross-functional partners.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.

Location: Remote (U.S.) or Charlotte, NC

Salary Range: $90,000-$110,000
