The Los Angeles Dodgers Quantitative Analysis team is responsible for using data to enhance decision-making throughout Baseball Operations. They design, implement, and maintain the models used to inform decisions about player personnel, player development, and on-field strategy. Candidates providing evidence of skills such as a personal GitHub page or example of research will be given highest consideration.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Fit and evaluate predictive models of baseball
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate statistical results with appropriate nuance
- Perform ad hoc data analysis to answer urgent questions from groups within baseball operations
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree OR are currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution
- Demonstrated experience building and evaluating predictive models
- Strong coding skills in Python (preferred) or R
- Ability to communicate technical results to non-technical audiences
- Availability to live and work in Los Angeles for the duration of your internship
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
- Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with git/version control
- Exposure to probabilistic programming (Numpyro/PyMC/Stan)
- Exposure to deep learning frameworks (Jax/PyTorch/TensorFlow)
- Experience working with time-series, image, or video data
