Responsibilities

Linda M. Villarreal & Associates, staff counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Houston, Texas, is hiring a rising 3L Summer Law Intern (Class of 2028) who will have exposure to litigation and trial practice. The internship strives to provide a balanced and realistic representation of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, as well as real-world exposure to a multitude of legal services being provided. The selected individual will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with attorneys on assigned projects, observe every phase of litigation, and will have a designated mentor throughout the internship.  The internship has a full-time schedule in the summer beginning Wednesday, June 2, 2027, through Wednesday, August 11, 2027, with the potential to transition to a part-time schedule during the 2027/2028 school year. The selected intern will be paid $33/ hour and operate in a hybrid environment (combination of in-office and remote). The Summer Intern selected will also receive a $2000 Intern Stipend. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organizational skills, an energetic/positive attitude, legal research knowledge, and the ability to work well under deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.

Located in Houston, Texas, we enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, professional work environment with skilled support staff.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a 2L student in an ABA accredited law school and must remain enrolled as a student for the duration of the internship.
• 2L students in the top half of their class
• Strong research skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Internship Details: 

• Summer Internship Dates: 6/2/27-8/11/2027
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week
• Due to the short duration of the summer program, it is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the summer internship with little to no disruption in work schedule.
• Pay: $33/hour.  In addition, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!
• Work Arrangement: HYBRID - Selected interns should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment.  Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.  Based on this requirement, we are seeking students from local area law schools.
