Job Title: Substitute Nurse

Location: HCS Campus

Job Type: 1099 contractor

Reports To: Head of School

Job Summary:

As the substitute nurse, fill in for the School Nurse on an as needed basis to respond to children in need of immediate health care while on school premises. You will treat minor illnesses and injuries and administer medications. You are also responsible for managing medical records for returning and new students. This role is ideal for anyone with a nursing background who has a passion for children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Medication administration.
• Glucose monitoring.
• Provides health assessments.
• Communicate with student families regarding continuous illnesses (lice, chicken pox).
• Maintain student health records.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Initiates referral to parents, school personnel, or community for health interventions, remediation, and follow through.
• Utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to stand, sit, move around the office for extended periods, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies.
• Operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine.
• Effective communication, both verbal and written, and listen regularly.
