Student Intern

Job Summary

Sterling Health Solutions, a fast-paced federally qualified health center, Interns will learn all aspects of the outpatient medical field. The intern who fills this position should expect to learn the field from top to bottom and will complete this program ready to enter any medical office/clinic with excellent skills.

It's essential that applicants to this position have strong communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Understands the overall concept of the organization, including the mission, culture, patient needs, quality goals, and all other aspects of services.
• Rotates through our departments of responsibility and provides ideas to grow and improve the patient experience.
• Accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.
• Engages with employees and asks questions regarding the department/service line.
• Provide suggestions to management for improving customer service and internal processes.
• Learns and becomes proficient on internal software systems.
• Assists in completing tasks and projects.
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Working towards a High School Diploma/GED or Associate’s degree.
• Knowledge of FQHC's.
• Confidentiality and HIPAA training.
• Willingness to learn and take constructive feedback.
• Highly effective collaboration skills, written and verbal communications skills.
• Computer competent and able to present key information in a succinct and clear manner.
• Attention to detail, meticulous development, and maintenance of regulatory paperwork.
• Speaks with confidence and command.
• Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and systems.
• Ability to maintain open dialogue with supervisors and management staff.
• Ability to work independently, use good judgment, maintain excellent communication skills and self-initiative.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Valid KY Driver's License, proof of insurance and personal transportation.
   
   

Special Requirements

Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.  Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.  Requires frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Ability to work with a moderate noise level in the work environment is required.
