Position Description

Job Title: Student Assistant I 

Department: Counseling 

Reports To: Dr. Tameeka Hunter L

Location: Remote via Zoom

Date: September 10, 2026, through June 30, 2027

Employment Status: Part Time; approximately 10 hours per week

Overview

The Student Assistant role supports a remote faculty member within the Counseling program. This role assists a remote faculty member with course management, student engagement, grading support, and administrative tasks in 100% online courses that enable the instructor to maintain a high-quality learning experience for master's-level students.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Aid instructor in the initial review of assignments, discussion posts, and quizzes according to the instructor-provided rubrics and guidelines.
2. Monitor the course emails and respond to basic student questions within 24 to 48 hours

1. Maintain accurate records safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects and students, as needed.
2. Track student participation and engagement, and flag students who may be experiencing challenges
3. Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and presentations.
4. Complete clerical updates to Canvas
5. Assist with various course management tasks.
6. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Be a current PAU student; a doctoral student from any discipline is strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field
• Ability to meet deadlines (occasionally quick ones)
• Proficient with APA formatting
• Be detail-oriented; Have strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proficient with Qualtrics
• Comfort with Excel
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
