Job Description

Immediate Start - Sept 7

About Girls Inc.

Girls Inc. of Greater Miami is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the next generation of strong, smart, and bold leaders. The Girls Inc. Experience provides comprehensive and interactive leadership development to equip girls with the knowledge and skills to reach their full potential and the support to actively realize it.

Through our free after school programming, Strong Girls, we equip 2nd-5th grade girls - particularly girls from historically under-resourced communities - with the knowledge and skills to create positive changes in their lives and to become leaders who will change the world.

Our professionally trained staff and volunteers provide mentorship, safe spaces, and skill building that address the unique challenges girls face. We cultivate physically and emotionally safe environments where girls are encouraged to take healthy risks, learn from experiences, and grow.

As a member of the Girls Inc. team, you will have the opportunity to work with passionate individuals who are committed to creating a world where every girl can reach her full potential.

What a Typical Week Looks Like

Each week begins with Team Huddle, where facilitators walk through the week's lesson plans, confirm what materials they'll need, and review any changes to the schedule before girls arrive. From there, each afternoon begins with receiving girls from school dismissal and leading them through the day's planned activities, including snack, homework time, and different enrichment activities. The days are designed to be fun, engaging and purposeful, each component with a clear goal. A weekly check-in gives facilitators time to share what's working, work through challenges, and stay connected with the Program Coordinator for further support. Facilitators are trusted to deliver programming with intention and consistency, so every girl gets the same high-quality experience no matter which site she’s at.

Schedule (Fall 2026 - June 2027)

*This is a school year position. Summer applications here will not be considered!*

Weekly:

Monday: 1:00pm - 6:30pm

Tuesday/Thursday/Friday: 2:30pm - 6:30pm

Wednesdays: 1:30pm - 6:30pm

+ a 45-minute weekly check-in, time TBD

Programming begins August 13th, 2026.

  • Facilitate pre-planned, curriculum-based lessons and activities with fidelity to the provided lesson plans and objectives.
  • Use engaging strategies to create an interactive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Guide girls through daily activities that build confidence, communication skills, and positive peer relationships, and provide homework support.

Supervision & Safety:

  • Maintain active supervision during all activities, transitions, and dismissal procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to the daily program schedule and activity flow.
  • Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols.

Positive Program Environment:

  • Reinforce Girls Inc. behavioral expectations and community agreements.

Planning & Preparation:

  • Prepare activity materials and supplies in advance of each session (curriculum and supplies are provided).
  • Deliver lesson plans and activities as designed, maintaining fidelity to the Girls Inc. curriculum; flag any needed adjustments to supervisor rather than modifying independently.
  • Participate in weekly Team Huddles and Check-Ins to align on delivery, troubleshoot challenges, and reflect on facilitation strategies.

Collaboration & Operations:

  • Work collaboratively with fellow facilitators, interns, and supervisors/managers.
  • Lead activity setup, transitions, and clean-up.

Professional Expectations:

  • Participate in required staff meetings and professional development.

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills required; bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole) a plus
  • High school degree required; Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • At least one year of experience leading or facilitating activities with youth in a group setting.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to be on site at the assigned school Monday-Friday, with occasional travel to Opa-Locka for facilitator trainings.

  • Commitment to working with youth from a variety of backgrounds and communities, with sensitivity to cultural, linguistic, family, and ability diversity.
  • Strong group facilitation skills and a willingness to continue developing classroom management strategies.
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive, energetic, and caring approach when working with youth.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and maintain accurate records related to program activities and attendance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with youth, families, colleagues, and school partners.
  • Comfort using Google Workspace and willingness to learn Girls Inc. program databases and systems.
