BASIC FUNCTION:

The Claremont Autism Center at Claremont McKenna College is seeking a part-time Staff Psychologist with a license or license-eligibility in California to join our team in providing clinical care for neurodiverse individuals and their families. The successful candidate will operate under the supervision of the Director of the Autism Center.

As a core member of the Claremont Autism Center’s clinical team, the Staff Psychologist will conduct consultations and psychological evaluations as part of our assessment and evaluation clinic, with an emphasis on comprehensive diagnostic assessments for autism and related neurodevelopmental differences. The Staff Psychologist will also provide evidence-based intervention and support for neurodivergent individuals and their families across a range of clinical programs, including our therapeutic social groups, our parent coaching service, and our individual and family therapy program, which includes treatment for anxiety, mood, and other commonly co-occurring conditions in neurodivergent individuals. In addition, the Staff Psychologist will support clinic management and will assist with supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.

This is a one-year, temporary, part-time (20 hours per week) position with the possibility of renewal. Candidates in advanced interview stages will be asked to submit two sample de-identified evaluation reports and three professional references to be contacted only with the approval of candidates. This part-time position is being offered in conjunction with a parallel part-time research position. Applicants well-qualified for both roles are encouraged to apply to the dual positions.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reporting to the Director of the Autism Center, the Staff Psychologist works both independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:

• Provide clinical care for neurodiverse individuals and their families including developmental and psychological assessments; social skills groups and related curricula development; and individual, group, and family therapy, including consultation and parent coaching.
• Generate timely and appropriate clinical billing and documentation.
• If relevant, attend weekly individual supervision with the Director.
• Attend clinic meetings with the Director, staff, and students.
• Assist in supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
• Provide administrative and operational support including communication with prospective clients, appointment scheduling, clinical billing, and management of the clinic waitlist.
• Facilitate relationships with community providers and community referral network.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & SKILLS:

EDUCATION: A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field, with clinical training in assessment and intervention for autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders, is required.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two or more years of clinical experience in the autism field.

PREFERRED CLINICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Established research reliability in the administration and scoring of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2).
• Experience providing psychological assessments, including comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, for autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Experience delivering group social skills intervention to neurodiverse children and teens.
• Experience delivering individual and family therapy, including behavioral parent training, to neurodiverse individuals and their families.

LICENSES: A valid driver’s license or equivalent alternate form of transportation to off-site meetings and events is required. A license or license eligibility as a psychologist in California is required.

OTHER:

HOURS: The regular clinical hours for this part-time position are 20 hours per week. Availability is required during the academic year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m. for social groups. This position requires flexibility and availability to work late afternoons and evenings as needed. Some weekends may be required. Travel to professional conferences may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of The Claremont Autism Center.

APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: The anticipated pay range is $35.00 - $40.00 per hour. Pay rate will be commensurate with experience and licensure status.

GROOMING AND APPEARANCE: Employees are expected to wear attire that is appropriate to the office or department in which they work.
